— Perceval, to Cecilia.

Perceval (Japanese: パーシバル Perceval) is the Knight General of Etruria in the era of the Disturbance of Bern. Loyal to Etruria's late Prince Myrddin above all else, he was cowed into the service of the Revolutionaries following their coup d'etat against King Mordred, complying solely to protect the king until he was convinced to join Roy in fighting the Revolutionaries to free Etruria.

Biography

Following Roy's recapture of Ostia from Legance, Perceval and Cecilia arrived there in response to an earlier request by Ostia for Etrurian protection;[2] there, they confronted Narcian and his forces, who were attempting to threaten Roy into surrendering Ostia, and drove them away. Afterward, Perceval returned to Etruria, leaving Ostia in Cecilia's care.

Later, in the Etrurian coup d'etat led by Arcardo and Roartz, Perceval and Douglas were forced into serving the Revolutionaries through their hostage-taking of King Mordred. In this capacity, Perceval was forced to assist Bern in arresting Cecilia at Missur, and later was deployed to a border fortress in Roy's path toward Aquileia. Upon learning of Myrrdin's continued survival as Elffin, he abandoned Arcardo and Roartz and joined Elffin in Roy's army.

Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade

Role

Perceval is present as an enemy in both Chapters 13 and 15. In Chapter 13, he will leave the map at the end of turn 8 if he is not recruited or killed, and will reappear in Chapter 15 for another chance at recruitment. If he is recruited in Chapter 13, he obviously will not appear as an enemy in Chapter 15.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Perceval joins past the halfway point of the game. His stats are incredible in every aspect (comparable to Alen after approximately 20 levels and a promotion but has notably higher resistance) and even better in Hard Mode. Perceval's only two weaknesses are that he does not fly and has low availability. Everything else about him is outstanding.

Not only are Perceval's stats high, but he is also a Paladin. Paladin is among the best promoted classes in The Binding Blade. It has very high movement, access to all melee weapon types, Canto and rescue-drop utility.

Perceval also has very high weapon ranks. A-rank in swords and A-rank in lances allow him to use almost every sword and lance in the game. C-rank in axes is weaker but still high enough to use the Hammer and the Killer Axe.

Perceval is among the most reliable units in the game. His accuracy is high, and he can fight several enemies on enemy phase. His growths are low, but his base stats are so high it does not even matter. Thanks to his excellent weapon ranks and flawless stats, he can fight any enemy type.

Perceval stands out as one of the very few units in The Binding Blade that can one-round enemies, even in Hard Mode. This, combined with his high movement and access to a huge arsenal of weapons, makes him an excellent unit.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Personality

Considered a paragon of knighthood, Perceval is loyal to his lieges above all else; he complied with the Revolutionaries solely to guaranteed Mordred's continued survival despite his own misgivings.[4] He holds Prince Myrrdin in particular in the highest of esteem, and in the past pledged his loyalty to Myrrdin above all else.[5] Perceval is regarded by fellow general Douglas as the embodiment of Etruria's future, whose survival beyond Etruria's potential fall in the Disturbance of Bern is paramount.[6] Such is his devotion to knighthood that he has trouble enjoying other aspects of life, dismissing Larum's antics as worthless frivolity despite his gratitude for her helping Myrrdin,[7] and expressing no interest in the food he eats according to the cooks serving Roy.[8] In the aftermath of the coup d'etat, Perceval planned to ensure the future safety of the king through purging all but those whom he considered the most loyal to the crown from the Etrurian court.[9]

Fire Emblem Characters: The Binding Blade & The Blazing Blade

Perceval's artwork from The Binding Blade is featured in a file in the Fire Emblem Characters book, alongside details regarding himself and his role in the game's story. He is the 43th character listed in this book. Perceval scored 23rd place in the online The Binding Blade popularity poll whose results were included in the book.

Fire Emblem Character File 043: Perceval
Gender: Male Estimated Age: 20s Title: Knightly Ideal Origin: Etruria
Status: Etrurian Knight General Weapon: Sword, Lance, Axe

The brilliant Knight General.

The commander of the Etrurian knights. He devoted his sword and swore loyalty to the Etrurian Prince Myrddin, but after news of the Prince's death, his loyalty to the kingdom began to wane. He encountered one who matched the Prince's appearance in the opposing Lycian Army, and hurried to his side. He overpowers enemies with his jet black figure coupled with his remarkable skills.

Beyond the ability to mow down vast numbers of enemies, Perceval has a gallant, manly demeanor. While a lot of women swoon over him, being a diligent knight, he has no interest in romance. It is said by Klein that Perceval is stoic to the extent that his expression remains stiff even when having a meal. He sees hope for the future of Etruria when he learns that Prince Myrddin lives, and dedicates himself to restoring the kingdom at his Prince's side.
