Leanne (Japanese: リアーネ Learne) as a heron laguz and the princess of Serenes Forest. She, along with her older brother Reyson, is one of the few survivors from the Serenes Massacre. She is also the younger sister of Rafiel. She is extremely caring and demonstrates willingness to learn in her studies of the new language.

In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Ike and the Greil Mercenaries find Leanne while searching for Duke Oliver in Serenes Forest. Although she has in-game statistics, she is never playable. In Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Leanne travels with her caretaker, Nealuchi, and at several different points in time participates in battle.

In Path of Radiance, Leanne is found in Chapter 17, sleeping in the Serenes Forest. Ike carries her for the remainder of the chapter until Reyson comes across them with Tibarn, Janaff, and Ulki. When Leanne finally awakens, she talks to Reyson in the ancient language, explaining what had happened to her and how she had been asleep for more than 20 years.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Leanne is one of three herons in the game, and has the ability to let other units move again, which is an invaluable skill. She is available for three of the five chapters in Part 2, Part 3 Chapter 11, and Micaiah's chapters in Part 4. Her abilities strike a middle ground between her brothers Rafiel and Reyson. Her mobility is superior to Rafiel but inferior to Reyson, having 5 movement when untransformed, 6 movement when transformed, and flight and Canto. In either state of transformation, Leanne refreshes two allies on opposite sides of her at once.

Leanne has a high base luck and average base resistance but her other stats are low. She is extremely frail and slow enough to get doubled by all enemy units, even the Purge-wielding Bishops in Part 4. Her only strong growth is luck. She also has a reasonable magic and resistance growth, boosting her healing abilities and potential siege tome tanking, but those are the only applications for her stat levels. The only other practical benefit to leveling her is to learn more Chant abilities, especially Bliss and Valor, which can be situational since she can use Bliss and Valor on 2 units simultaneously, but reaching the necessary levels is not practical without significant grinding or bonus experience.

Leanne has the Blessing skill which heals adjacent units at the start of each turn. This is valuable as it helps free up other stave-users' turns. As Leanne cannot fight, offensive skills are useless. Miracle and Shade are skills that help her survive should the player make a mistake.

When considering which of the three herons to bring into the Tower of Guidance, Leanne is a very difficult sell compared to Reyson. Reyson has significantly better mobility than Leanne when transformed, and his inability to refresh more than one unit at a time when untransformed can easily be fixed with one of the three Laguz Gems acquired in Part 4. If Reyson has been defeated, however, her competition with Rafiel is a lot murkier. Leanne's flight is helpful in parts 1 and 3 of the endgame, which feature bottomless pits that Leanne can freely fly over while Rafiel is stuck on the ground. In addition, having Canto might make the difference between Leanne being able to get back to safety on her own after refreshing someone and having to spend two moves rescuing dropping her. However, Rafiel's ability to refresh four units at once instead of two can give you those two extra moves to pull him back or allow you to get two extra kills on player phase.

Leanne possesses a water affinity, granting her and her partner attack and defense. While the defense boost might save her life against a magic enemy, the attack boost only benefits her partner. Therefore, it is best to support her with a front-line combatant who can make use of the mixed offensive and defensive boosts. The Thunder and Earth affinities are particularly beneficial to her for keeping her in one piece.

Notes

  1. In the Japanese version of Radiant Dawn, the Library states that Rafiel is the "first prince",[3] Reyson is the "third prince",[4] Lillia is the "third princess",[5] and Leanne is the "fourth princess".[6] This implies that they had at least three other siblings who have never been named.
