| “ | Yeah... I'm gonna be honest, Azelle. It's not that I feel nothing at all about what happened. Can't be helped, right? But after all the pain and suffering Dad caused... Well, he deserved to go down. | ” | — Lex, on his father's death |

Lex (Japanese: レックス Lex) was the son of Duke Lombard of Grannvale's House Dozel. He was persuaded by his friend, Azelle of Velthomer, to come to the assistance of Sigurd of Chalphy in opposing the Verdane invasion of Grannvale, and in spite of his father's intense hatred for House Chalphy, he served with Sigurd in Agustria, Silesse and beyond until his presumed death in the Battle of Belhalla.

Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Lex is an Axe Knight that joins in the prologue of the first generation of Genealogy of the Holy War. Lex will start out a bit awkward as most early enemy units wield axes, and they will have a much greater chance of hitting Lex than most of the other units you start with. Luckily, Lex is durable enough to take several hits even from these hard hitting axe users, but he will likely need a healer keeping an eye on him early on. Axes are the worst weapon type in the game, as they're very heavy and significantly reduce his otherwise decent speed, thus greatly hindering his ability to dodge. Because of the lower accuracy of axes compared to other physical weapons, despite the low avoid of enemies, Lex will have trouble hitting some enemies, especially if they're in forests. They also give him terrible 1–2 range options, with only the inaccurate and heavy Hand Axe available. Since he lacks Follow-Up and will have to wait until the end of Chapter 1 to obtain the Brave Axe from the secret event, he initially will not be very threatening at first. However, by Chapter 2 he will hit his stride as terrain that gives avoid will largely disappear and because of the high number of lance wielding enemies he will be able to hit reliably, though he will need a few levels to one-round them. The Brave Axe does not fix all of his problems however, particularly his 1–2 range will always be poor, and it comes with a hefty turn cost if playing ranked. He begins to fall off again during Chapters 4 and 5 due to the prevalence of magic enemies which will deal heavy damage to him.
Lex comes with two skills: Vantage and Paragon. Vantage pairs well with the Brave Axe but is mostly useless against ranged opponents, while Paragon allows Lex to snowball very quickly and often give him the ability to promote as early as late-Chapter 2. Players might consider giving Lex the Follow-Up Ring to boost his offensive potential, but many other characters also make great use of it and Lex can usually one-round most enemies with his Brave Axe after promotion anyway. Furthermore, axes significantly hinder his ability to double if he has the Follow-Up Ring, so having Follow-Up would not have been able help him naturally double enemies regardless.
Overall, Lex is a solid unit, he needs a bit of investment to get going and he's not going to be very impressive offensively without the Brave Axe, but after that, Lex will become a great 1-range combatant with his access to Holy Blood, high movement, Canto and Paragon.
As a father
Since no children (sans a promoted Leif, who can only inherit swords) in the second generation of Genealogy use axes, Lex will not pass down any of his axe weaponry. Otherwise, Lex will pass down his holy blood, Vantage, and most importantly Paragon. Lex's holy blood will make every one of his children fairly tanky and Paragon will make them level up quickly without needing the Paragon Ring. Because of his excellent availability and the talk conversation in Chapter 3 which gives them love points, many people pair Lex with Ayra. However, her children have no problem gaining experience and money. He can also pair up with Silvia or Brigid, who both have children who are hard to train and appreciate Vantage's ability to pair with the Sleep Sword to guarantee clearing the arena. Another option is with Tailtiu. While the children will have terrible magic, they also get the powerful Vantage + Wrath combo that allows them to constantly double their attacking power. They will be strapped for the Magic Ring to deliver OHKOs, but Paragon can help get them promoted sooner for extra damage output via Thoron. Unfortunately, Lex does not pass down Follow-Up, so it is best to pair him with a mother who either already has Follow-Up as a personal skill, or her children have said skill innately as part of their class. His physically-aligned growths are also somewhat ill-suited for magical-oriented children, who normally use magic instead of strength to attack.

Personality
Dismissed by his father as "worthless", Lex was uninterested in Lombard's ongoing feud with House Chalphy, though he still claimed to have only come to assist Sigurd as a result of Azelle convincing him to do so.[3] Hotheaded and something of a rebel to his father's ways, he was blunt and exceptionally honest, resulting in him receiving a Brave Axe from a mysterious woman in Verdane as a test of his honesty.[4] In spite of his rough exterior, Lex got along well with most people, exemplified by his close friendship with Azelle.
