Thea (Japanese: ティト Thite) is an Ilian Pegasus Knight, older sister of Shanna, younger sister of Juno, and a playable character in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade.

Biography

Thea and her sisters.

Thea is the younger sister of Juno and older sister of Shanna from Ilia. She and Shanna were raised by Juno, since their parents, two Ilian soldiers, were killed on the battlefield when the three were young, and they had no other relatives.[1]

Thea was taught how to ride a pegasus by Juno,[2] and went on to become a pegasus knight like Juno and their late mother. Eventually, Thea became leader of her own squad of mercenaries,[3] doing business around Elibe, as is typical of many in Ilia. Additionally, Thea was responsible for planning Juno's wedding to Zelot.[4]

During the Disturbance of Bern, Thea's squad of pegasus knights was hired by the Etrurian military. Under the Etrurian commander Klein, Thea was deployed to the Western Isles in order to protect villages from the bandits plaguing the isles, though this was a pretense to put down the Lycian Army siding with the local rebellion against the Etrurian nobility. Though the Ilian mercenaries were considered expendable by the nobility, they were treated with respect by Klein.[5]

After Klein chose to side with the Lycian Army, Thea followed suit, both out of compliance with the Ilian value that a mercenary should always follow their employer's command,[6] as well as Thea's romantic affections for Klein.[7]

She was part of the Lycian Army for the entire war, reuniting with both of her sisters along the way. Following the war's end, Thea returned to Ilia and reunited the pegasus knights divided by the conflict.[8]

Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade

Role

Thea appears as an enemy reinforcement in either Chapter 11A on turn 5 or Chapter 10B on turn 8. She can be recruited by either talking to her with Klein, or talking to her with Shanna after Klein has been recruited. Once recruited, the units accompanying Thea become allied, and, should they all survive, an Elysian Whip is awarded at the end of the chapter. Additionally, she can recruit Juno in Chapter 20A.

If her and Shanna's combined experience is equal to or higher than that of Sue and Sin, Chapter 17 will be Ocean's Parting, leading the Etrurian Army to Ilia.

Recruitment: Chapter 11A or Chapter 10B, talk to with Klein, or talk to with Shanna, recruit Klein, then talk to with Shanna again
(Will become an NPC if Shanna talks to Thea only after recruiting Klein; she can then be recruited by Klein talking to her. Shanna cannot talk to Thea if Klein is dead.)

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Thea joins in Chapter 11A or Chapter 10B as a level 8 Pegasus Knight. Her base stats are low for her joining time, as she joins with similiar stats to her sister Shanna, but Shanna joins noticeably earlier, in Chapter 2. However, she benefits from Hard Mode bonuses, which give her decent base stats. Her base D rank in lances does not allow her to use Killer Lances without investment, and limits her to Iron Lances, Steel Lances, and Javelins, all of which suffer from low hit. While Thea's base skill isn't low and her growth in it is quite good, she is still likely to miss with these weapons thanks to their low hit and the high avoid of enemies. Considering the period when Thea joins—in chapters full of enemy axe-users—her inability to use the Axereaver also hurts, especially as Shanna could have earned the lance rank by then. In comparison to her sister, she has higher HP, strength and defense, and a slightly higher constitution, but she also has less luck and speed.

Since Thea cannot use strong weapons and her speed is too low to double, she does not deal much damage to enemies. She will likely be one-shot by bow users and two-shot by axe users in Hard Mode, and suffers weapon triangle disadvantage against axes with no option to counter it until she promotes. Fortunately, the Elysian Whip is the least contested promotion item in the game, with three available before Melady joins, and since Thea starts at level 8, she won't need much investment before promoting. While she is not unique, Thea is a flier, and is capable of rescuing units to carry them over terrain they would otherwise be slowed by; she is capable of rescuing without investment, and can be used as necessary to do so.

She also has a unique niche in any experience given to her contributes the player going to the Illia route. This means she can be used if the player wants to use Sue and/or Sin but does not want to go to Sacae.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Role

There are two different variations of Thea present in Fire Emblem Heroes. The normal variant of Thea is one of the characters added to the game in the A Father's Legacy update, and became available for summoning by players on March 8, 2019. An Ice Tribe-themed variant of Thea was added on September 6, 2024, and was first available to summon from then to October 3, 2024.

Fire Emblem Characters: The Binding Blade & The Blazing Blade

Thea's artwork from The Binding Blade is featured in a file in the Fire Emblem Characters book, alongside details regarding herself and her role in the game's story. She is the 34th character listed in this book. Thea scored 12th place in the online The Binding Blade popularity poll whose results were included in the book.

Fire Emblem Character File 034: Thea
Gender: Female Estimated Age: Teen Title: Stormy Flier Origin: Stormy Flier
Status: Pegasus Knight Group Captain Weapon: Lance, Sword

The second of three Ilian beauties who upholds order.

The commander of a group of pegasus knights. She is a mercenary employed by the Kingdom of Etruria who works with Klein against the Lycian Army headed by Roy. She followed Klein to join the Lycian Army. She is a skillful and sincere pegasus knight who places great trust in her subordinates, though she lacks adaptability due to her serious nature.

"A mercenary should never betray their employer." Those are words that Ilian knights swear an oath to uphold. It would bring dishonor to anyone who breaks it. This way of thinking was embedded in Thea from her hometown, as the poor in Ilia have no choice but to turn to becoming mercenaries to live. Even though her contract expired when she joined the Lycian Army, she desired to stay with Klein as much as she could due to strong feelings toward him. While she displays the abilities of a masterful leader, she is awkward when it comes to love.

Thea: Stormy Flier

Thea is the leader of Ilia's Pegasus Knights, a band of flying warriors from a region of Elibe that is renowned for its pegasus breeding.

Her older sister, Juno, was the previous leader of the Pegasus Knights, while her younger sister Shanna is a trainee. Yep, it's a family team!

Thea is very serious and absolutely dedicated to her duty—she'd even do battle with her kith and kin if the laws of Ilia demanded it.

That doesn't mean she's cold and unfriendly, though. She gets REALLY embarrassed when you pay her a compliment, and she truly cares for the people close to her.

  • Fire Emblem Heroes was inconsistent with the English localization of Thea's name. The first two Choose Your Legends polls use the name "Thite", while one of Shanna's My Castle quotes, the third Choose Your Legends poll, and her later official appearance refer to her as "Thea".
