I...I won't betray anyone. I won't fight against the people of Nohr after you cared for me all these years. [...] I refuse to fight against my Hoshidan siblings, either.
— Corrin

Into the Ground (Japanese: 狭間へ沈みゆく Sinking in Between) is the sixth chapter of the Revelation campaign in Fire Emblem Fates. In this chapter, Corrin refuses to take sides between Nohr and Hoshido, but is forced to fight against forces from both.

Plot

Main article: Into the Ground/Script

Corrin refuses to betray one of their Nohrian or Hoshidan families by siding with the other, and they ask Xander and Ryoma to seek a peaceful solution—neither abide, and each vows to bring Corrin to their senses, forcing Corrin to fight in hopes of stopping them. Azura suggests they defeat the commanders nearest to them, forcing Xander and Ryoma to focus on them. Felicia or Jakob (if Corrin is male or female, respectively) then arrive, having finally found Corrin, and vows to aid them even against two armies simultaneously.

Once the battle is over, Corrin notes that both forces have stopped fighting, but Xander and Ryoma accuse Corrin of betraying them. Azura suggests they retreat, and Corrin promises to convince them someday. As the three flee, Azura suggests Corrin side with one nation to avoid being hunted by both, but Corrin resolves to pick neither; Azura vows to follow Corrin.

Summary

Nohrian and Hoshidan royals clash blades on the battlefield. Corrin is torn between both kingdoms but finally makes a fateful decision...

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Your starting lineup for the Revelation route consists of Corrin, your opposite gender servant, and Azura (who for no readily apparent reason has dumped her Brass Naginata for a Bronze Lance). Notably, you are very light on bulk, with only Dragonstone Corrin being able to serve as a reliable tank.

You are saddled with an unforgiving five turn time limit, and the Nohrians are across a river and in no hurry to attack, so you must immediately take the fight to them. With Azura's aid and using Corrin as a ferry, your servant should be able to pull the Fighter on turn 1. On turn 2, kill him and use the Dragon Vein to dry the river so the Hoshidans can get to you in time. If Felicia is your servant, she will almost certainly need to duck behind Corrin in order to survive. Luckily, even Azura is sturdy enough to take a hit from the Nohrian boss. On turn 3, you will be able to finish the Nohrian boss in time to regain your bearings and face the Hoshidans. You can kill the Hoshidan boss on turn 4 or delay a turn to get an extra kill - your call.
