— Helman to Ephidel

Helman (Japanese: ヘルマン Hermann) was the marquess of Santaruz and a minor character appearing in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. He had some participation in the Lycian Rebellion, instigated by Nergal and Darin.

Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade

Role

Helman is a minor character appearing in Chapter 12E and Chapter 13. Having received word that Eliwood wished to speak to him about Elbert's disappearance, he had an argument with Ephidel about what to do next. Ephidel suggested lying that he, Helman, knew nothing. When Helman disagreed, Ephidel then suggested scaring Eliwood away. When the men Ephidel sent to "scare" Eliwood away almost killed him instead, Helman expressed a desire to leave the Lycian Rebellion. Ephidel wounded him mortally for this, though the wound did not kill him immediately.

A little while later, Eliwood and Hector found Helman. Helman was able to tell the pair to seek out Darin and died shortly after.

As Marquess, Helmen treated his subjects well and fairly, but at least one of them described him as "more follower than leader" and expressed doubts about his frequent meetings with Darin[1]. He regrets sending Elbert to Darin, and tries to make up for it by telling Eliwood to seek out Darin to sort out the rebellion.

Lately, he's been meeting with Marquess Laus quite a lot. I hope nothing bad comes of it, but..." — The northernmost village in chapter 12, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
