Fates

Death Blow (Japanese: 鬼神の一撃 Fierce God Blow) is a skill which debuted in Fire Emblem Fates. In Fates, it is a class skill associated with the Oni Chieftain class; in Heroes, it is a four-tiered type A passive skill (whose individual tiers are Death Blow 1, Death Blow 2, Death Blow 3, and Death Blow 4 in order from lowest to highest).

In Fates, Death Blow increases the user's critical rate considerably whenever its user initiates a battle; in Heroes, the skill instead boosts the user's attack stat when initiating combat, with the bonus size increasing with the skill's tier. This version of the skill also appears in Three Houses, where it only has one version boosting attack by 6, only works on physical attacks instead of all attacks, and is learned by mastering the Brigand class.

In Engage, the skill returns to its original form, and boosts the user's critical rate once again. In this game, it is one of several skills that are exclusively used by some high-level enemies on the game's hardest difficulty mode, Maddening. Death Blow is exclusive to enemy Swordmasters.
