— Pause screen flavor text for Sand from Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Sand is a Copy Ability that debuted in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe as an addition to the base game, making its first appearance along with Mecha. With this ability, Kirby gains a crown made of sand atop a tiara with pyramid-shaped decals on it, similar to other elemental Copy Ability hats like Fire, Water, and Spark.

Using the Sand ability, Kirby can throw sand waves at enemies, create dust devils, produce a damaging sandcastle, and even grab items from afar, similar to Whip. This ability also has a unique guard similar to Leaf where Kirby hides in a pile of sand.

Sand is exclusively provided by Sandran, a new enemy in the remake.
