The soldier returns, and he's more armed and dangerous than ever!
— Tough: Gigant Edge Quest description in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe

Gigant Edge is a mid-boss debuting in Kirby's Return to Dream Land that grants the Sword Copy Ability, and is the first mid-boss in the series to do so. He wears different, tougher armor than Sword Knight or Blade Knight's, and also sports a shield (which he occasionally uses). Gigant Edge attacks by shooting waves across the ground in an attempt to hit Kirby, or charging toward Kirby with his sword.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land / Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]

Gigant Edge made his first appearance in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, debuting in Cookie Country - Stage 2, acting as a mid-boss. In the Extra Mode and The True Arena, a tougher variant named Gigant Edge EX is fought instead. This version of Gigant Edge is clad with bronze-colored armor and weapons, and strikes Kirby with more vicious attacks.

Attacks[edit]

The following are all of Gigant Edge's attacks in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. All attack names are taken from official Japanese strategy guides:

Gigant Edge's attacks in Kirby's Return to Dream Land
Attack Description Variants
斬りつけ攻撃
Slash Attack
Gigant Edge performs a large vertical slash with his sword which hits the ground. Dropped Stars are left behind after each slash. When low on health, he follows this up with one additional swipe.
His EX form begins by slashing four times in a row, and does so six times in a row when low on health.
突進攻撃
Rush Attack
Gigant Edge takes one, two or three steps back, pulls out his sword and runs with it ahead of him. He does not stop until he hits the wall, upon which Dropped Stars appear. His EX form takes one step back before charging, and may turn around before hitting a wall and run in the opposite direction, depending on player positioning.
シールドガード
Shield Guard
Gigant Edge brings up his shield and raises his defenses. He cannot take damage while in this state.
ソードショット
Sword Shot
Gigant Edge pulls out his sword, charges it, and slams the ground, knocking any nearby players away and creating a shockwave which travels along the ground. A Dropped Star appears after the shockwave hits the wall. His normal variant can only start using this attack when low on health. The charge-up window for this attack is quicker when fought in Nutty Noon - Stage 5. His EX variant can also charge up, jump and then slash the ground unleashing the shockwave at low health.
3WAYソードショット
3WAY Sword Shot
Attack exclusive to Gigant Edge EX. When low on health, Gigant Edge EX charges up his sword and then unleashes a series of three Sword Beams upon slamming down. Dropped Stars appear once the shockwaves hit the wall.

Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition[edit]

In Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, Gigant Edge appears in New Challenge Stages, where he is fought in Smash Combat Chamber and Smash Combat Chamber EX. Gigant Edge functions just like he did in Kirby's Return to Dream Land.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

Gigant Edge in Kirby: Triple Deluxe

Gigant Edge also appears in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, returning as a Mid-Boss. He bears largely the same moveset, though he will additionally attempt to toss his sword in a boomerang fashion as it flies between the background and foreground. Gigant Edge DX, much like Gigant Edge EX before him, is a much tougher variant, though his armor is golden and he could be considered to be much more formidable than EX.

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]

From Team Kirby Clash
Battle beside your team! Work together to defeat the Steel Soldier hiding in the forest!
— Steel Soldier Gigant Edge Quest description from Team Kirby Clash

Gigant Edge appears as one of the opponents that the Kirbys must battle in the Kirby: Planet Robobot Sub-Game, Team Kirby Clash. Here, he is much larger, and has much greater Health. He also possesses some new moves, including the ability to leap high into the air and perform a down thrust, though this also leaves him helpless for a short while, since his sword gets stuck in the ground.

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe[edit]

Tougher rank unlocked! Face the final battle with this proud, mighty soldier!
— Tougher: Gigant Edge Quest description in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe

Gigant Edge appears three times in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe. He fights in much the same way as he did in the original sub-game, but each new encounter makes him tougher, and also makes his moves more elaborate.

Kirby Battle Royale[edit]

Gigant Edge appears three times in Super Kirby Clash. He is fought solo in only one Quest, with the other two having him paired with other enemies. He is paired with Kibble Blade to form Team Mighty Cleave, and paired again with Kracko as part of Team Sword & Storm. Despite this, he is out-shined by his fiery cousin, Ignite Edge.

Attacks[edit]

The following are all of Gigant Edge's attacks in all three of the Kirby Clash titles. Most attack names come from official Japanese strategy guides concerning Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby: Planet Robobot, while others are conjectural:

Kirby and the Forgotten Land / Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World[edit]

Main article: Wild Edge
The mysterious vortex brought Gigant Edge to the new world too! They arrived before Kirby and fell in with the ranks of the Beast Pack. Despite the wild wardrobe change, they really stand out among the rest of the pack, but they'll still guard their stations with ferocity!
— Figure description

In Kirby and the Forgotten Land and its Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Gigant Edge reappears as a mid-boss, now given a wild makeover after joining the Beast Pack and referred to as Wild Edge. It is the first time Gigant Edge is referred to with gender-neutral pronouns, though their Nintendo Switch 2 Edition-exclusive Crystal Wild Edge EX figure refers to them with masculine pronouns. The Gigant Sword evolved ability is also based on Wild Edge.
