MGM Interactive

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

MGM Interactive was the software division of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, formed in 1994. Its first video game was Wirehead for Sega CD and their last release was the Rocky game Rocky Balboa. The name would be phased out after 2005 and future games based on MGM licenses would use the standard MGM logos.

Logo (September 1995-March 20, 2007)

Visuals: Same as the standard MGM logo, but with the words "MGM INTERACTIVE" in a Trajan Pro font on the bottom with lines above and below it respectively.

Variants:

  • On games for the Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, the logo is still.
  • Starting in the mid-2000s, the logo is given an enhanced look.
  • On 007: The World is Not Enough for Nintendo 64, the print logo in front of a white background is used.
  • On Blown Away, the logo is centered.
  • On RoboCop (2003), only the last part of the logo is seen.

Technique: Live-action.

Audio: Leo's re-dubbed roar from 1985.

Audio Variants:

  • On Wirehead, Leo's roar is in a lower tone.
  • The James Bond games From Russia with Love and Everything or Nothing as well as the Rocky game Rocky Balboa have the 1995 roar track.

Availability: This logo first appeared on Wirehead for Sega CD and alongside 007 games (except for GoldenEye 007 and James Bond 007, as both games were published and distributed by Nintendo), and can also be found on Machine Hunter, WarGames: Defcon 1, Rocky, The Great Escape, RoboCop (2003) and Rocky Legends.
