Gaumont Italia
Gaumont Italia was the Italian film distribution division of Gaumont. The company was founded in 1978, alongside its parent company's other two subsidiaries: Gaumont do Brasil and Gaumont, Inc. Gaumont Italia was led by Renzo Rossellini, who also opened the Scuola di Cinema Gaumont film school in 1981. However, he would resign in November 1983. By that point, the company suffered a string of box office disappointments and the Italian film industry was declining thanks to competition from Silvio Berlusconi's emerging private TV networks. As a result, Gaumont, who was undergoing a financial restructuring, shut down its international divisions in 1984.
Visuals: On a light blue background, there is a white Gaumont daisy slowly fading in. After that, below the daisy, the word "Gaumont" with a small "ITALIA" below slowly fades in too. Then, there is a white line forming an irregular rectangle, separating the daisy and the words "Gaumont ITALIA". Finally, inside the rectangle, and below the text, there is a giant "PRESENTA" appearing.
Variant: At the end of the trailer of Voltati Eugenio, there is a blue background with the words "Un film distribuito dalla", and then the logo with the daisy along with "Gaumont Italia" appears.
Technique: Motion-controlled animation.
Audio: An eerie yet ambient theme with a harp glissando every time an element appears in the logo.
Visuals: On a blue space background, there is a white daisy zooming forward, eventually reaching the viewer and leaving the screen. The text "Gaumont" in an old-English font (the same font used for the 1908 logo) zooms out along with the daisy from before, which stops on top of the text. When it reaches the end of the screen, it disappears.
Technique: Camera-controlled animation.
Audio: A dramatic synthesized fanfare with pounding synth drums, composed by Vladimir Cosma.
