To resurrect someone I lost long ago—no matter the cost. Surely there are those for whom you'd do similar. There's nothing I wouldn't do, nobody I wouldn't trade to see the light in her eyes once more...
— Aelfric explaining his true objective

Return to Me (Japanese: 起死回生の策 Means of Resurrection) is the sixth chapter of the Fire Emblem: Three Houses expansion Cindered Shadows. It consists solely of a mission, The Rite of Rising (Japanese: 宝杯の儀の攻防 Offense and Defense of the Chalice Ceremony).

Completing this chapter will allow the player to recruit Yuri in the main story.

Plot

Main article: Return to Me/Script

The Ashen Wolves awaken at the Holy Mausoleum, where Yuri explains that Aelfric's objective is to offer up the blood of the Four Apostles to reenact the Rite of Rising; Aelfric believes that the original Rite in 185 failed because not enough blood was offered, and gathered the Wolves in Abyss in an attempt to complete the ritual at the cost of their lives. When Yuri is pressed on what he stands to gain from participating in the ritual, Aelfric approaches and reveals that he has Yuri's mother and people hostage to ensure his compliance. He explains that his objective is to resurrect Sitri, no matter the cost. As Aelfric begins the ritual, Yuri suddenly reveals that the Knights of Seiros have rescued his loved ones, that Aelfric set him up on the mission that resulted in his expulsion from the Officers Academy, and that Rhea has been suspicious of Aelfric's actions since before they met; Yuri has been working for her the entire time. The Wolves break free of their restraints, but the Rite continues. Byleth and their companions storm the Mausoleum, suppress the vortexes that are keeping the Rite going, and defeat Aelfric.

After the battle, the heroes corner Aelfric. He explains that he found Sitri's corpse perfectly preserved 10 years ago and became obsessed with resurrecting her afterwards. Rhea arrives; Aelfric accuses her of being responsible for Sitri's death and demands to know what she did to her, but Rhea refuses to elaborate and maintains that she sacrificed herself to save the infant Byleth. Rhea begs Aelfric to stand down, but he refuses and flees. The Wolves forgive Yuri for his forced deception, and the party resolves to track down Aelfric and finish things once and for all. Elsewhere, Aelfric recalls his history with Sitri and Jeralt.

Unused beginning log

With the blood of the Four Apostles combined in the Chalice of Beginnings, the Rite of Rising has begun. The situation looks bleak, as the rite will kill the four if it is not stopped. Fortunately, Yuri has a plan.

This chapter features "vortex" terrain; there are four vortices across the map, and the Ashen Wolves—Yuri, Balthus, Constance, and Hapi—cannot step on them. While they are active, the Ashen Wolves will suffer from poison, and Aelfric will receive +99 to both his Defense and Resistance. The vortices will be disabled and disappear completely once a unit has been placed on all four of them at once.

At the start of enemy phase 1 and turn 10, if the vortices are still active, all units except for Aelfric will take 10 damage.
