| “ | Dolhr... Land of the Manaketes. Before Medeus, the dragonkin had few dealings with the human realm, but when the Shadow Dragon came, everything changed. He sunk all Archanea into a cycle of war, in which heroes rose and heroes fell—always claiming his cause was just and the humans' deaths deserved. | ” | — Shadow Dragon narration, on Dolhr |

The Dolhr Empire (pronounced /ˈdoʊlɚ/[key][6]; Japanese: ドルーア Durhua; PAL: Doluna), dubbed the "kingdom of manaketes" (Japanese: マムクートの王国 kingdom of mamkutes)[a] was a relatively short-lived nation of Archanea which existed only for a total of fifteen years across a period of 115 years.

Geography
Dolhr is located in a southwestern landmass of the continent. It lays to the south of the Altean Union and is to the west of the Holy Kingdom of Archanea. Dolhr's reign as an empire extended to the territories of Macedon and Grust;[10][11] the former shares the same landmass to the south and the latter is located in a smaller landmass to the west. The empire also held dominion over most of the continent during the War of Liberation and War of Shadows.
Dolhr is largely attributed to being a poor and remote region,[12] dense of jungles.[13] When first deemed under Dolhr, Grust and Macedon held similar statues: Grust was barren,[14] and Macedon housed undeveloped forests referred to as ruins;[10] these forests would also be where Dolhr's set its human slaves to the task of constructing a country during the War of Liberation.[10]
History
The Empire was founded in the year 490 Archanea calendar by Medeus, prince of the Earth Dragons and guardian of the seal upon his wild brethren. In the years since the formation of the Holy Kingdom of Archanea, mankind had become increasingly hostile to and derisive of the Manaketes, enraging Medeus and prompting him to form the Dolhr Empire, a Manakete nation, and declare himself its emperor. From there, in the year 493 he engaged the world in a war against humanity, opening with the successful conquest of the Holy Kingdom of Archanea. Country after country fell with ease, and at its peak Dolhr encompassed the entirety of the continent. The tide was turned with the rise of Caldas's resistance army, and with the death of Medeus himself at the hands of Anri and the Falchion, Dolhr crumbled and fell by the year 498. After the empire's fall, Manaketes continued to live in the region in a state of poverty.
Dolhr was restored in the year 598, a year after the revival of Medeus himself by Gharnef, and in the year 600 again assaulted the countries of mankind with the goal of domination of the world, in a conflict known as the War of Shadows. Despite the empire and especially Medeus's hatred of mankind, the army of Dolhr extensively employed human warriors in its ranks and was allied with the human countries Gra, Grust and Macedon; much of the rest of the continent fell to their immense combined might, with Aurelis and Talys the only ones to withstand. After five years of domination by Dolhr and its allies, the empire eventually fell at the hands of the united Altea/Aurelis/Archanea resistance army led by Prince Marth of Altea, wielding the Falchion as his ancestor did and using it to again strike down Medeus.
Notable locations in Dolhr
Dolhr Keep

Dolhr Keep (Japanese: ドルーア城 Durhua Castle), casually "keep",[15] is the residence of Emperor Medeus. During the War of Shadows, the keep's interior acted as a means for Medeus to maintain his dragon form due to his incomplete resurrection,[15] and was where he fought and died to the Archanean League which ended the war. Prior to their entrance, Xemcel guarded outside the keep when the League appeared in Dolhr.
Resurrectory

The Resurrectory (Japanese: 復活の神殿 Temple of Resurrection) is a temple located at the mountain(s) of southern Dolhr,[16][b] where someone capable of wielding the staff of Aum can revive someone.
In Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light and Mystery of the Emblem, it was required for someone stand in front the Resurrectory's "central pillar" to use Aum.[19] Aum was relocated to a chest within the temple for Shadow Dragon as opposed to it being present in Elice's inventory in the previous games; the central pillar was also no longer a requirement in reviving a unit. Aum's relocating in Shadow Dragon was explained as the staff being lost to the world and enclosed in the Resurrectory until Gharnef recently discovered it.[20]
