Logic Pro for Mac track notes interface

You can create, view, and edit notes for each track in the Track Notes pane. You can type text notes in the Track Text area, and add images by dragging them into the note.

Tip: With Apple Intelligence, you can use Writing Tools to proofread, rewrite, and summarize selected text in the Track Notes pane. Select the text you want to work with, then click the Writing Tools button in the Track Notes menu bar. Note: Apple Intelligence is available in beta on Mac models with M1 or later, with Siri and device language set to Chinese (Simplified), English (Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, or U.S.), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), or Spanish. Some features may not be available in all regions or languages. For more information, see the Apple Support article How to get Apple Intelligence.

With Continuity, you can use Camera tools to take a photo, scan a document, or create a sketch using your iPhone or iPad and add it to the Track Notes pane. Control-click in the Track Text area to access the Camera tools.   • Track Text area: View and edit notes for the selected track in the Track Text area.

  • Track Text Edit button: Use to add or edit track-specific text in the Track Text area. You can also double-click the Track Text area.

  • Writing Tools button: Use to access Writing Tools that you can use to proofread, rewrite, or summarize selected text in the Track Notes pane.

    Note: The Writing Tools button is dimmed when Apple Intelligence is not available or has not been activated on your Mac.

Open the Track Notes pane

In Logic Pro, do one of the following:

  • Click the Note Pads button  in the control bar, then click Track.

  • Choose View > Show Note Pads, then click Track.

Add or edit track notes

  1. In Logic Pro, click the Track Text Edit button.

    A blinking insert cursor appears in the Project Text area indicating that you can enter and edit text, and the Edit button changes to a blue Done button.

  2. Do any of the following:

    • Enter text in the Track Text area.

    • To format text: Select the text in the Track Text area, then click the Fonts button and apply formatting from the Fonts window to the selected text.

    • To add an image: Drag an image from the Finder to the Track Text area.

    • To access Apple Intelligence features: Click the Writing Tools button.

    • To access additional options, including Camera tools: Control-click the Track Text area, then choose a command from the shortcut menu.

  3. When you finish, click Done.
