Television Program Enterprises

Television Program Enterprises was a television syndication distribution company formed by Al Masini, who also formed Operation Prime Time, and owned by TeleRep. It was merged with Rysher Entertainment in 1993. Al Masini, meanwhile formed his own production company to continue producing TPE's shows.

Visuals: Superimposed over the ending of the program, the giant typewriter letters "TPE" slide in from the left, top, and right sides of the screen respectively, each with large light blue trails that turn into outlines, before being filled with a two-tone blue gradient color. As the letters finish forming, 2 pairs of 2 red lines wipe in above and below the "TPE", and then the blue text "TELEVISION PROGRAM ENTERPRISES" fades in the top set of lines in a bold Arial font, while a byline reading "A DIVISION OF TELEREP, INC." in a thin Arial font, fades in the bottom set of lines. The logo has a drop shadow effect, but the footage in the background often fades to black around the middle of the letters forming, often hiding it.

Trivia: The "TPE" logo type font is also the same seen on Telerep's logo seen on Broadcasting Magazine's adverts.

Variants:

• Sometimes, the logo is still on the final result.
• The logo may be over the entire ending of the program, or the background may already be black.
• On Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous: The World's Most Exotic Vacation Resorts, the logo is on a blue/red gradient background.
• On an 1989 episode of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, the logo is shown in a smaller size in the bottom right corner of the screen, which then grows to full-size after the logo forms.

Technique: Camera-controlled animation.

Audio: None or the closing theme of the program.

Availability:

• Was once seen on episodes of Star Search and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous from the period, but TPE-distributed shows are likely updated with either the Rysher Entertainment, Paramount Domestic Television or CBS Television Distribution logos.
• This was also seen on the 1988-89 version of Triple Threat with Jim Lange.
• The still version was seen on a few episodes of The Smurfs on KidsWB.com, and was retained on at least one episode in a local syndicated rerun back in 2005 on the DIC Kids Network syndication block.
