Set an assignment to pinned or focused in Logic Pro for Mac

In Logic Pro for Mac, you can pin assignments for track header and plug-in controls to a specific track or plug-in control in a project. By default, assignments apply to the currently focused track in any project.

Pinned assignments work only with a specific track or plug-in instance in the project. You can use pinned assignments regardless of the current focus. This can be useful if you have a controller with columns of controls, such as a mixer, that you want to assign to specific tracks. Pinned assignments are saved locally with the project and can be used only in the project where the assignment was made.

Focused-track assignments apply to the currently focused track, if the track or plug-in contains the parameter. For example, if you set an assignment for the Mute button in a track header to apply to the focused track, you can use the assignment to mute any track by selecting the track to give it focus, then use the assigned MIDI control to mute the track. If a track or plug-in that doesn’t have the parameter is given focus, you can’t use the assignment. Focused-track assignments are saved globally with the app and can be used in all your projects.

  • In Easy or Expert view, click the Action pop-up menu , then choose New Track Assignments Are Pinned to Track.
