Work with Drummer multi-channel kits in Logic Pro for Mac

Each drummer has a default patch associated with it. If you choose an acoustic drummer, its default patch is based on a stereo mixdown of the full, multi-miked drum kit or percussion mix. These patches are optimized for performance. The original multi-channel kit offers full access to all mix options.

Important: When using multi-channel kits, make sure that plug-in latency compensation is set to All in Audio General settings. This ensures phase-coherent playback of all channel strips in the multi-miked drum kit mix.

For live playing, it’s recommended that you use the stereo mixdown patches. Although some of the patches can contain latency-inducing plug-ins, you can compensate for this by turning on Low Latency Monitoring mode. To do so, click the Low Latency Monitoring Mode button in the control bar or select the Low Latency Monitoring Mode checkbox in Audio General settings.

Note: Multi-channel kits are only available after you download the Multi-Channel Drum Kits sound pack in the Sound Library. See Download additional sound packs.

Access multi-channel kits

In the Logic Pro Tracks area, select the software instrument track where you want to load the multi-channel drum kit.
Click the Library button in the control bar (or press Y) to open the Library.
In the Library, click Acoustic Drums > Multi-Channel Kits, then choose one of the multi-channel drum kit patches.
Multi-channel kits are identified in the Library by a “+” at the end of the patch name. There is an original multi-channel patch for each stereo mixdown patch.
Choosing a multi-channel kit gives you full access to all individual drum microphone channel strips and any effect plug-ins and routings. You also have access to additional mic and room sound settings and additional drum replacement pieces.
