Finder device management payload settings for Apple devices

Use the Finder payload to control Finder settings and specify which commands are available for users of a Mac that enrolls in a device management service.

The Finder payload supports the following. For more information, see Payload information.

  • Supported payload identifier: com.apple.finder

  • Supported operating systems and channels: macOS device, macOS user.

  • Supported enrollment methods: Device Enrollment, Automated Device Enrollment.

  • Duplicates allowed: False—only one Finder payload can be delivered to a user or device.

The tables that follow show the Finder payload settings that apply to Finder preferences and Finder commands.

Choose Regular Finder or Simple Finder. Simple Finder restricts most apps and settings.

Users can restart their Mac.

Users can log out of their Mac.
