Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Ralf joins with good base stats (apart from magic), an A-rank in swords, and a C-rank in axes. His C-rank in axes is deceptive – he has 40 weapon experience, so a couple of axe swings will get him to B-rank. There are no A-rank axes in Thracia 776, so B-rank is enough to use every non-personal axe in the game. The Master Axe is especially notable as it gives him a decent 1-2 range option. This makes Ralf a good combat unit with no investment. Ralf's growth rates are unimpressive, but his base stats are enough for the remainder of the game.
Ralf has no special traits to speak of - he is a good filler unit with solid stats who joins halfway through Thracia. While he has no utility outside of combat, he is good at what he does.
Personality
Ralf has very little dialogue for a playable character. Regardless, he is shown to be a generous individual; he works to defend a village in the mountains from roaming brigands; he does so only in exchange for somewhere to sleep.[1] He is unwilling to accept pay from the villagers as they already have virtually nothing.[2] When Leif's forces arrive during Chapter 15 and assist him in defeating the bandits he offers to join Leif's cause purely to fight against the Grannvale empire.[3]
Endings
Ralf, Wandering Mercenary
Putting down his sword, Ralf took up farming to help rebuild Thracia's trampled lands. Nothing else about him remains in the records.

Trivia
- According to Thracia 776's website, Ralf was designed to look 30 years old.[4]
- Ralf is programmed to be able to promote into a Mercenary with a Knight Proof, however, this is impossible to see in normal gameplay, as the game prevents a unit from promoting into the same class. No other pre-promoted unit has this distinction.
