The Department will request electronic signatures via email after submittal of these Current Use submissions:
- Current Use Application
- Forest Management Activity Report
Signatures for the Agricultural Land and Farm Buildings Certification can be done during the submittal process.
Each landowner added in Step 6 of the Application or Step 5 of the Report will receive a notification email from the Department the next business day. All landowners must electronically sign before the submission can be processed.
The request email has a hyperlink to sign electronically. Owners must include their Social Security Number (SSN) or Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) and contact information, such as mailing address and phone number. Before completing signatures, landowners are offered an opportunity to review the submission.
Note that SSNs and FEINs are redacted from any correspondence. If you have hired a consultant who has access to your application, the tax ID will not be visible to them.
Owners or their authorized agents will receive weekly reminder emails to sign until they have signed it. Unsigned submissions are canceled after 90 days. It is often helpful to notify the other owners to expect an email from the Vermont Department of Taxes. Submitting applications well before the September 1 deadline (or 30-day deadline for transfers) gives ample time to get the necessary signatures.
The application cannot be processed until all signatures are submitted.
