Buying on G2G was a miserable…
Buying on G2G was a miserable experience from start to finish. First, the platform has a ridiculous country-matching rule: your card’s issuing country must match the country of your phone number, or they will refuse delivery. As if anyone even knows which random EU country their debit card was technically “issued” from. I live in Austria and used a PayPal Debit Mastercard that I got here, but apparently, it was issued in Germany. Cue hours of pointless back-and-forth to convince them I’m not running an international scam.
When I finally managed to make a successful purchase with a proper Austrian card, I thought the nightmare was over. Nope. I bought a "12-month subscription gift card" — that's what the listing said — and after paying, the seller described it as a "1-year subscription, renews every 3 months." What I actually received was a 3-month subscription, with the seller stating that they had informed me. Three. Then it was back to support hell again; only this time, they weirdly needed much longer to respond.
If you value your time, sanity, or money, avoid G2G. Their system is broken and poorly moderated; their listings are misleading, and their support process feels designed to make you give up. I eventually bought the same gift card from Kinguin, and it worked right away the first time, and I also got what I purchased (without weird country card restrictions).
EDIT: Well, good job on preventing scammers with your security verification! I had difficulties with it, but the scammer seller seems to do just fine. The seller provided a replacement code, which does not work either. I also suspect that the seller will continue to offer fake codes to avoid refunds via G2G's support, which will only intervene if the seller fails to respond within 48 hours. So the seller delivers a fake code to reset the 48h timer. Additionally, this process is a hassle that requires a lot of effort and causes a lot of frustration, which you could avoid by buying from another platform.
