Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity ^{in Japanese}(超宇宙刑事ギャバン インフィニティ, Chō Uchū Keiji Gyaban Infiniti) is a sci-fi Tokusatsu series produced by Toei, and the first installment of Project R.E.D., their successor/follow-up to the long-running Super Sentai series. While Project R.E.D. inherits a number of tropes from Sentai, this series specifically is more directly based on the Metal Heroes franchise; primarily Space Sheriff Gavan. It aired from February 15, 2026 to July 19, 2026, airing alongside Kamen Rider Zeztz in the Super Hero Time block, and replacing the final (for now) season of Super Sentai, No.1 Sentai Gozyuger. Atsuhiro Tomioka, who previously wrote for Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger, serves as head writer, while action director and former suit actor Hirofumi Fukuzawa makes his formal debut as pilot director.

In the near future, Earth has made contact with aliens and joined the intergalactic community, with the Galaxy Federal Police in place to help fight interplanetary crimes. The Multiverse has also been discovered, with a number of dimensions called "Cosmo Layers" and sub-dimensions called "Multiverse Earths" that are able to be observed (though not, with few exceptions, able to be traveled to).

On Multiverse Earth Α0073, Reiji Doki is an investigator with the GFP's Documents Division — on paper, just the group's pencil-pushers, but in truth they specialize in crimes involving Energy Beings that respond to human emotions called "Emorgy" ("emotional energy"). Contained in small "Emorgear" ("emotional energy gear") devices, positively charged Emorgy can serve as a source of great power; but when negatively charged it can spawn a dangerous Emons monster or even create a tear into the dark dimension known as Makuu Space. With the power of anger Emorgy, Reiji can transform into the warrior Gavan Infinity in order to destroy Emons and subdue those who would misuse Emorgears for their own ends. Further, Reiji has the rare ability to travel across dimensions, allowing him deal with Emorgy incidents in other Cosmo Layers that are beyond the scope of those Layers' own local Galaxy Federal Police.

Of course, other Multiverse Earths have their own Gavans as well, such as the samurai android Setsuna Aikokuin of Multiverse Earth Λ8018 ("Gavan Bushido") and forensic scientist Kiki Iwai of Multiverse Earth Ι5109 ("Gavan Luminous"). With a criminal ring operating out of Makuu Space and distributing negative Emorgears across multiple Cosmo Layers, complete with its own evil Gavan, the heroic Gavans will need to band together to protect their respective Earths and the entire Multiverse.

What are the true TROPES?:

• 20 Minutes into the Future: The series takes place in an Ambiguous Time Period in the 21st Century where aliens have co-habited Earth, while criminals employ Family-Friendly Firearms such as laser blasters. One criminal subverts the family-friendliness with a (still fictional) rapid-fire bazooka.
• By the Power of Grayskull!: Like Space Sheriff Gavan, the Gavans shout "Jouchaku!"^note A term for "vacuum deposition", a process where a material is vaporized and then condensed as a layer onto a body; an English equivalent would be "Electroplate", or "Flashplate" for the Super-Speed the process happens in, while in Spanish the term "Galvanizar" (translation of "Galvanizing") is used instead, which aludes to the coating process of steel or iron with Zinc for protection. when they transform.
• The Chosen Many: There are multiple Gavans, one for each Cosmo Layer of The Multiverse.
• Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Gavan Infinity is red, Gavan Bushido is silver, Gavan Luminous is gold, Gavan Ameise is brown (or copper), Gavan Raiya is purple, Gavan Amigo is a darker shade of brown, Death Gavan/Gavan Destiny is black with purple shades and Gavan Diagram has a gold head but a black body. In #21 there's also an unnamed green Gavan.
• Dancing Theme: The ending sequence has the core cast (Reiji, Setsuna, Kiki, Daisuke, AGI, Rikiya, PatRun, Rui, and Kotobuki) all dancing to "Love is the Strongest". The only major exceptions are #19 and #20; the former has Koto and Kiki's memories of their time together, and the latter just has the song while the episode's plot continues.
• Emotional Powers: The Emorgears contain the power of emotions, with the Gavans each using one to transform and more that can cause other effects. The criminals they face use their Evil Counterparts, Nega Emorgears, to give themselves supernatural abilities and summon Emons, while Death Gavan uses those to transform in the same manner as the Gavans.
• Emotion Personification: The Emorgears are battery-like creatures born after responding to strong bursts of emotion, creating Emorgy in the process. The Transformation Trinket-style Emorgears that the protagonists use include the anger-based Gekido, the sadness-based Hisoo, and the joy-based Kanky.
• Eye Catch: The show features these as a nod to the eyecatches used in the original Gavan and other older Tokusatsu shows.
• Game Face: During the Transformation Sequence and Finishing Moves, the various Gavans have holographic displays projected over their helmets and faceplates with the helmets showing exaggerated faces of their respective emotions — Infinity gains an angry scowl, Bushido has a weeping face, and Luminous has a giant smile.
• Human Aliens: Zigzagged with Rubber-Forehead Aliens. In the setting, aliens have began migrating to Earth, and while some of them resemble humans for the most part others use disguises to more effectively blend in with the general population.
• In the Name of the Moon: Each Gavan has their own Catchphrase, which they say after transforming and introducing themselves:

• The Multiverse: The premise of the series centers around the concept of "Cosmo Layers". Cosmo Layers are described as planes of existence that hold different universes, labeled as "Multiverse Earths" for convenience. There is also a dimension called "Makuu Space", an Another Dimension that is accessed through Nega Emorgears.
• Mythology Gag:
  • The "Yada" ^note "Don’t want" Emorgear is based on a Fuuma Rare Beast, also named Yada, from Space Sheriff Shaider.
  • Like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai before it, the Gavan Infinity toyline has Legend Emorgears modeled on the original Metal Heroes. The first to be released were Space Sheriffs Gavan, Sharivan and Shaider, though the Gavarion toy has sound effects for all fifteen series.
  • The fifth Mecha Expansion Pack for Cosmo Gavarion, Gavarion Dornado, is a blue and yellow dragon that is a direct homage to Electronic Starbeast Dor from Space Sheriff Gavan. It even comes with a circular part that, when attached to the Cosmo Gavarion, gives it a similar appearance to Gavan's ship, Dorgiran.
  • While the series is mostly based on Metal Heroes' Space Sheriff trilogy, Gavan Raiya is instead a new version of another hero in the franchise, Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya.
• Planet of Hats: Each of the Multiverse Earths has a distinguishing characteristic that makes them unique. They can range from something as minor as Ι5109's Strange Salute, or something more drastic such as Σ3302 being a world where humans live alongside sapient insects, or Φ5791, where trains travel through outer space and humanity has been digitized.
• Retraux: Gavan Infinity mixes modern practical effects and fast-paced action with elements that were more commonly used in Space Sheriff Gavan and other Tokusatsu series from the 80s, including narration whenever the Gavans transform, and Eyecatches before and after commercial breaks.
• Revisiting the Roots: Human criminals serve as the Villain of the Week for the series, something that was last seen in Metal Heroes' Rescue Police Trilogy and Tokusou Robo Janperson.
• Ridiculously Human Robots: Setsuna/Bushido and AGI are both androids resembling humans.
• The Stinger: Each episode includes a final scene after the ending credits, which either leads to the following episode or is just an unrelated comedic scene.
• Transformation Is a Free Action: This series brings over the original's Once More, with Clarity gimmick, only that transformations this time take place in 0.001 seconds of real time (compared to the original's 0.05 seconds), along with the signature Repeat Cut to watch the full transformation in detailed "slow-motion".
• Transformation Trinket: The various Gavans insert battery-like devices called Emorgears, which are powered by emotions, into the Gavarion Trigger to transform. Infinity uses the anger-based Gekido, Bushido uses the sadness-based Hisoo, Luminous uses the joy-based Kanky, and Raiya uses the fear-based Kiigu. Death Gavan has his own long-barrelled version of the Trigger called the Gavarion Rifle, and his Nega Emorgear is the jealousy-based Yakkamin.
• Transforming Mecha:
  • Taking cues from TegaSword, its immediate predecessor of a different franchise, Gavan Infinity's spaceship, the Cosmo Gavarion, can transform into a giant robot called Cosmo Gavarion GC-R. Downplayed in that an Emorgear needs to be attached to it and form its head, making it a Combining Mecha instead. In terms of toys, the Cosmo Gavarion can also transform into the Gavans' sidearm the Gavarion Trigger, but in the show they're separate items (though in #19, Cosmo Gavarion becomes a giant Gavarion Trigger that another Cosmo Gavarion ACE-GO uses for its Finishing Move).
  • Death Gavan has his own evil counterpart mecha, the Ark Gavarion, which transforms into Ark Gavarion GC-R by combining with its own Emorgear.
