Teach You a Lesson (참교육) is a 10 episode live-action adaptation of the webcomic Get Schooled. It premiered and released in June 5, 2026 on Netflix.

For a long time, South Korean schools have been under the tyranny of delinquents taking advantage of the laws protecting minors, to the point of even harming the teachers within their radar.

This culminated into the murder of one certain teacher by her own student, but her father, Choi Gang-seok, just so happened to be the Minister of Education, and inspires him to found the Educational Rights Protection Bureau (ERPB) under the Teacher Rights Protection Act. The Bureau is granted the legal authority to use any form of measure, including Corporal Punishment, if it means punishing the bullies and scaring them into line, so that both the students can properly learn and teachers can teach in a safe environment.

ERPB inspector Na Hwa-jin leads the team into investigating various school violence incidents and corruption, while a shady group of Gangseok's political enemies are scheming to take down the group.

Teach You A Lesson contains examples of:

• Adaptation Name Change: The live-action series changes the Teacher's Rights Protection Agency name to Educational Rights Protection Bureau.
• Adaptational Nice Guy:
  • Downplayed for Jung-yeok's father. While still a deeply unpleasant person and a Corrupt Politician, Congressman Ryu is no longer abusive to his son.
  • ​U-jin is shown to be a shy and introverted kid unlike his bratty counterpart in the manhwa.
• Adults Are Useless: The ERPB regularly encounters adult authority figures, ranging from parents to school administrators, who are incompetent at raising their children/protecting their students at best or actively complicit in perpetuating the abuse at worst.
• Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Hwa-jin flicks both Gyeong-min and Hyeong-ju's heads to show his tough love affection towards them.
• Alone with the Psycho: Miss Jung is cornered in her apartment by Ye-ri who attacks her with a knife with the intent to kill. Thankfully, the wardens arrive on time to prevent her from hurting Miss Jung.
• Battle in the Rain: At the climax of episode 2, Hwa-jin takes on an entire gang by himself while it rains, and it is glorious.
• Best Served Cold: Choi Gang-seok eventually became a direct target for certain politicians who seek to ruin his and the bureau's reputation. But Gang-seok played the long game and waited for the right opportunity to get back said politician. A good example was with politician Lee Cheol-myeon who dug up information on Gang-seok's deceased daughter and manipulated the events surrounding her death to the media to dissolve the bureau. Gang-seok would find evidence that he and his wife were involved with academic fraud and paying off a teacher to get exam answers for their daughter, effectively ruining Cheol-myeon's reputation instead.
• Bitch Slap: Hwa-jin is introduced doing many of these to the bully harassing Gyeong-min. Considering that same bully was demanding Gyeong-min to hit him back, he was definitely asking for it.
• Bully Brutality: The extent of the torment that some bullies, whether as students or adults, inflict of their victims can be very extreme.
  • Both Gyeong-min and Daeseok were often brutally beaten up in public and humiliated by Jungyeok and his gang, to the point they either wanted to or ended up committing suicide to escape from it all. In Daeseok's case, Jungyeok and his father also went after Daeseok's father and financially ruined him as a means to make Daeseok submit.
  • Kim U-jin's mother was threatening, cyber-bullying and stalking his teacher Choi Ji-seon to the point of following her home and accusing her of abusing her son. The lawyer at the end of the episode bluntly pointed out that all these actions are considered criminal in society, yet why do people permit it when it happened between a parent and a teacher.
• Bystander Syndrome: Classmates witness all types of bullying and harassment happening at their schools but either walk away from it, pretend nothing was happening or even film it. Even teachers or principals aren't immune as they get attacked by the bullies themselves.
• Canon Foreigner: The show adds a new member to ERPB in the form of Bong Geun-dae, a 5th-grade civil servant.
• Car Fu: Enraged over his fiancée's murderer getting a light sentence solely because of said murderer being a minor, Hwa-jin tries to run him over, but gets t-boned at the last second. Even so, Hwajin still tries to confront Gyu-cheol head-on as the latter is hauled off in handcuffs, while Gang-seok holds him back.
• Catch a Falling Star: When Ye-ri pushes Miss Jung off her balcony, Hwa-jin jumps down as well and manages to grab her in time to use his body as a shield to protect her from the fall.
• Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: Jae-yoon tried his damndest in suppressing his gambling addiction, but when a classmate urges him to cope by reading some webcomics, the numerous adds featured in the site reveal a lot of gambling links and he becomes hooked once again.
• Compressed Adaptation: Justified, since this show consists of only 10 episodes while the webcomic it's adapted from is still ongoing with 2 seasons and currently consists of over 250 chapters. The show itself cuts off half of the sagas and introduces characters appearing much later on.
• Cool and Unusual Punishment:
  • Part of the ERPB's punishment towards the bullies is that their crimes will be exposed on their website for everyone to see and the only way for it to be removed is if their victims forgive them. In Jun-hyeok's case since his victim committed suicide, it's implied ERPB will never remove his record.
  • One of the ERPB's enforcers, Hwa-jin, likes to dole out punishments that match with what the offenders have done. Examples include imprisoning a group of particularly cruel delinquents so they will be subjected to the same abuse they delivered to their bully victims, forcing an Education Mama to study with the inhuman schedule she forced on her son, and physically beating a crime boss running a rigged gambling site through a rigged game of rock-paper-scissors.
• Cruel and Unusual Death: Gyu-cheol kills Ga-yun in a much more brutal fashion here as compared to the webcomic; instead of killing her with one punch, he fatally stabs her with scissors.
• Deadly Nosebleed: Hyeon-min is introduced having one as a sign that something was wrong with him. It's later revealed his mother was giving him unprescribed medication to make him study better that was also increasing his blood pressure to dangerous levels and giving him chest pain. Flashbacks show that he was having nosebleeds frequently at home and his mother just kept thinking it was something else.
• Death by Adaptation: Lee Chiho is killed by Cho Gyu-cheol in the series whereas the two never even had any direct interaction in the manhwa. This also increases the latter's kill count by two
• Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: When asked by Geun-dae what he liked to do for fun, Hyeon-min struggles to think of something and realizes only trying to please his mother has left him not knowing what he wants. Geun-dae helps rekindle his inner child. While the episode ends without showing what Hyeon-min wants to do, he tells his mother that while he plans to take the CSAT exam next year, he does not want to go to medical school.
• Dirty Coward: The principal at Daehan High School insisted that there were no bullying issues at the school, despite a father bringing forth his concerns, a student committing suicide recently and how rampant the bullying was occurring in the school. As seen in his conversation with Hwa-jin, he kept using Congressman Ryu's name as an excuse to not do anything about it. When Congressman Ryu's reputation tanks and ERPB exposes the bullying publicly, the principal was caught hiding under his table by reporters.
• Disney Villain Death:
  • ​Averted with Ye-ri on two occasions. First when she got into a struggle with Mrs. Jung as the latter tries to save her from falling off the balcony, then when Han-rim tries to push her off said balcony after witnessing Hwa-jin shielding Mrs. Jung from fall damage, only to be held back by Geung-dae
  • Played straight with Lee Chiho when Gyu-cheol pushes him off the school rooftops in order to get the ERPB off his back and continue his drug trafficking scheme.
• Dramatically Missing the Point:
  • When his father's reputation goes down the drain and Jun-hyeok becomes a pariah at the school and bullied by his own gang, instead of realizing this was how his victims felt and seeing the error of his ways, Jun-hyeok attempted to burn down the school, along with his own gang, instead.
  • Despite seeing her son suffering from all the illegal medication she was drugging him with, the ERPB flat out telling her that she was abusing him and Hwa-jin forcing her to go through the intense study schedule she inflicts on her own son, Hyeon-min's mother still did not realize that her single-minded goal of getting her son to get into medical school was the problem. Even with Hyeon-min telling her he doesn't want to go to medical school and do something else with his life, she insisted he will.
• Drives Like Crazy: Hwa-jin purposely drives like a madman while two of the delinquents enrolled in the Auto Department are trapped inside, in order to scare them into taking class more seriously.
• Engineered Public Confession: This is how ERPB got Cheon Sang-yeol as they secretly recorded his conversation with politician Lee Cheol-myeon's wife and their scheme to give his daughter all the exam answers while making sure more deserving students did not make the university cut and broadcasted it to the whole school.
• Get-Rich-Quick Scheme: This is how the online gambling rings manages to entice high school students by giving them free cash at first and encourage their victims to play "games" to get more money, with them not realizing the games are rigged and they would always lose more money than winning it. Hwa-jin points out there is no such thing of the trope ever happening in real life and later has Jae-yoon and his fellow classmate who was a recruiter for the gambling ring both working proper jobs to slowly pay back all their debts back to their parents.
• Forced Addiction: Hyeon-min was frequently given unprescribed, off the streets medication by his mother to "help" him study better but it made him develop an addiction to it, thinking it was the only thing making him feel better. Thankfully with the help of ERPB and treatments at the hospital, he successfully recovers from it.
• Hypocrite: Lee Cheol-myeon constantly accuses Gang-seok of exploiting his own daughter's murder in order to advance his own position career, while the former is exposing such a scandal for the exact same reasons.
• I Want Grandkids: Weaponized by Ga-yun during a flashback when Gang-seok disapproves of Hwa-jin purely on the basis because he is seeing his daughter. Ga-yun tells her father if she can't marry Hwa-jin, she will never marry anyone else and she won't be able to give him grandchildren. Gang-seok then reluctantly accepts Hwa-jin. Becomes much sadder in the present time, as Ga-yun was murdered and naturally, she wouldn't be able to ever give her father any grandchildren.
• If I Wanted You Dead...: Hwa-jin shows the Guun Tech students that he could have hurt them far worse when he confronts the gang members, including knocking them unconscious, breaking bones and stabbing many of them.
• The Infiltration: Geun-dae is often used as a mole to sneak into schools as a student so the Bureau could find out how the school works and the behaviours of the bullies.
• Intergenerational Friendship: Hyeong-ju (high school student) doesn't realize it but his new friend Geun-dae is actually much older than him (at least in his late twenties/early thirties).
• Interrupted Suicide:
  • Gyeong-min, realizing that no teacher or adult would stop Jun-hyeok's reign of terror at the school because of his politician father, attempts to jump off the roof but Hwa-jin stops him and pulls him off the ledge in time.
  • Choi Ji-seon was about to hang herself in her classroom due to the various harassment she received from the mother of one of her students. Han-rim arrives to stop her.
• Lack of Empathy:
  • When Hwa-jin confronts Kim U-jin's mother on her harassment of his teacher, the mother argues that any mother would do the same. He shoots back that every teacher, especially Choi Ji-seon, is also someone's child and it was Ji-seon's mother who brought the case to the bureau's attention out of fear for her daughter's wellbeing. Kim U-jin's mother flat out said she couldn't care less since she only cares about her son.
  • In spite of Ga-yun's father and fiancé trying to keep the incident surrounding her murder under tight wraps out of respect of her memory, Lee Cheol-myeon eventually digs it up and goes public on how he believes that Gang-seok is purposely exploiting his only child's death as a political prop to further the success of the ERPB. Cheol-myeon also accuses Hwa-jin and Gang-seok of not truly caring about protecting the students and teachers from being attacked by bullies, they just want to get revenge on all bullies. Not only that, Cheol-myeon has the gall to gossip with his allies on how he thinks Gang-seok only thought about establishing the ERPB from the very moment his daughter died, instead of, you know, mourning over her. Gang-seok makes him pay for this.
• Last Disrespects: After Mr. Cho committed suicide after falsely being framed for assaulting Ye-ri, Miss Jung goes to his funeral, only to see many of Ye-ri's followers still harassing his family, tearing up the funeral home while gleefully livestreaming their actions.
• Loophole Abuse: The entire dilemma between U-jin's mother and Choi Ji-seon. We see that U-Jin's mother constantly harassing Ji-seon by constantly calling her for the smallest things, stalking her in social media and real-life, using her husband to intimidate her at work, and even accusing her of abusing her son. Any other time this would be clearly seen as criminal actions. However, because it's between a teacher and her student's parents, it's either ignored or downplayed. It's not until U-jin's mother is sued when a lawyer actually frames it as the criminal actions that they are and calls-out the double standards.
• Malicious Slander: The Bureau is constantly under attack by politicians who seek to undermine and dissolve them. Choi Gang-seok as the head and minister of education takes the most heat and said politicians twist his daughter's death and the events around it to make it seem like he is only motivated by revenge and want to punish all students when that is far from the truth.
• Mama Didn't Raise No Criminal: The parents of the minors were in denial that their sons could do any kind of wrong, they just made a small mistake and simply could not accept their sons were dealing drugs at their school, making millions of won in their sales and even drugged and assaulted several other students even when the evidence and one of their victims was presented right in front of them.
• NO INDOOR VOICE: Han-rim is much more hot-blooded here than compared to her webcomic counterpart, due to randomly shouting in most of her sentences.
• Not What It Looks Like: Ye-ri edits and posts a video of her homeroom teacher seemingly cutting her hair while she was crying. Miss Jung tries to explain the truth that Ye-ri had gum stuck in her hair and asked her for help. Unfortunately for her, Ye-ri all but holds her hostage with reposting the video anytime it's taken down and making it seem like she is a bad teacher.
• "Not Your Fault" Reassurance: Gyeong-min tells Hwa-jin that he thinks he is just as bad as the bullies when they picked Dae-seok to be the new outcast and he was happy that it wasn't him for once. And when Dae-seok died, Gyeong-min tearfully admitted he smiled because it would mean he could escape the hellish school. Hwa-jin reassures him that he is nothing like the bullies and he was just another abandoned innocent whom the adults did not protect.
• Nothing Personal: When Congressman Ryu realized that Gang-seok was the one who leaked his crimes to the media, he demanded to know why since he and Gang-seok were both from the same party and if Gang-seok was targeting him from the beginning. Gang-seok simply told him this had nothing to do with their political careers and this was all done to teach his son a lesson and implied that if Congressman Ryu had raised his son properly, he wouldn't have been in this mess to begin with.
• Papa Wolf: For starters, Gang-seok kickstarted the ERPB in honor of his only child, who was murdered by her own student, and by doing so, he'll prevent others from suffering from the same tragedy. When he finds out that Hwa-jin was stabbed by Cho Gyu-cheol, Gang-seok loses his composure, starts yelling and tries to run after the police car taking the latter away. Understandably, given what happened to his daughter. Later on, in a more calmer manner, he confronts the politician who allowed the events to occur, punching him across the face.
• Parents as People: Jae-yoon's father cares for his son but is overwhelmed by his son's gambling addiction despite trying everything to help his son get out of it. After the Bureau arrests the gambling ring, the father admits to Choi that he thinks he is a horrible father since he initially believed his son ran away, only to later find out his son actually was kidnapped by a gambling ring and forced to work off his debt in horrible conditions. Choi gently spells it out that he isn't since he never truly gave up on his son and came to the Bureau to ask for help.
• Parents in Distress: Some of the bullies/adults target and threaten their victim's parents as a means to humiliate their victims and force them to comply to their demands.
  • When Daeseok's father protested the bullying happening to his son, Congressman Ryu uses his influence to financially ruin Daeseok's father. When Daeseok begged Jun-hyeok he would do anything for them to leave his father alone, Jung-yeok cruelly told him to go kill himself. Which he eventually does, leaving behind his heartbroken father.
  • Cheon Sang-yeol reported and got Hyun-woong's parents' restaurant to close in order to break Hyun-woong so his grades would drop.
  • The gambling ring sent men to beat up Jae-yoon's father at his workplace and earlier harassed him with phone calls that his son owed them money. This was the ring's modus operandi as they called Geun-dae's "mother" for money once he went into debt.
• Police Are Useless: Many victims, both students and adults, tried going to the police for help but either got ignored and dismissed or told the police can't do anything about it.
• Punched Across the Room: One of Hwa-jin's slaps was enough to send one bully sliding across the hallway.
• Rage Breaking Point: Hyun-woong was a good kid who genuinely worked hard to earn top marks in his classes but was screwed over by Cheon Sangyeol who went out of his way to hurt his parents' business and blocked him from hiring private tutors so children from prestigious families would get into universities rather than him. It's no wonder Hyun-woong eventually snapped and punched Cheon Sangyeol.
• Revenge on the Bully: When Min Ji-woon and his gang are put into juvenile detention, they encounter fellow inmate Kim Su-gyeom, who was once a victim of bullying and who also ended up brutally stabbing all his bullies to death, earning him the moniker "bully killer" and thus terrifying the group that he would come after them. The end of the episode reveals that Su-gyeom was putting on an act of being frightening and it was his idea to use his reputation to terrify the bullies. He simply requested in return that Hwa-jin and the bureau prevent anyone else from getting to the point like him where he felt he had to resort to murder to escape his bullying.
• Tastes Like Friendship:
  • Hwa-jin often has a casual meal with some of the victims and simply talks with them, probably being one of the few decent adults that actually listens to them.
    • After stopping Gyeong-min's attempted suicide, he takes him to a convenience store for some ramen.
    • Hwa-jin is seen treating Hyun-Woong for a meal while promising that he would take down Cheon Sangyeol.
    • All Kim Su-gyeom wanted after his Scare 'Em Straight act was a can of coke to drink, something that Hwa-jin personally brings to him. Their conversation implies that Hwa-jin had earlier sat down with him to hear his side of the story.
  • After the events at Guun Tech school, Geun-dae runs into Hyeong-ju, who still believes he is a student. They go out for a meal to catch up, only to be joined by Hyeong-ju's previous bullies who have since made amends and became real friends with Hyeong-ju. The two ex-bullies even playfully feed Hyeong-ju parts of their meal.
  • For all his gruffness towards his sonin-law, Gang-seok visits Hwa-jin his apartment, bringing kimchi and making sure he eats a proper meal, knowing that Hwa-jin still struggled with coping after the loss of his fiancé.
• Unusually Uninteresting Sight: When Hyeon-min slumps over his desk and starts bleeding from his nose, only the wardens and the teacher rush to his side. Hwa-jin is surprised that none of the other students even raised their heads from their exam papers. It's a hint that the students have been drugged by their parents to concentrate only on their exams.
• Villain with Good Publicity:
  • Ye-ri is a popular social influencer with thousands of fans that she utilizes to harass and bully teachers through social media, finding out where they live or their personal phone numbers and families' contact information and then sic her followers at them.
  • Cheon Sangyeol appears to be a well-liked and model teacher and the whole school turns on Hyun-woong for attacking him without listening to his side. But he is actually a corrupt teacher who sneaks exam answers to students from powerful and prestigious families to further his career and actively tried to sabotage Hyun-woong's education.
• You Don't Look Like You: Numerous characters from the webcomic have their appearances change in this live-action adaptation. For some of them it's justified for certain bright-brown haired individuals to adapt their hair colors as black in this adaptation.
  • Na Hwa-jin doesn't maintain his signature long hair and always keeps his face clean shaven.
  • Im Han-rim never dyes her hair red and keeps it in its natural black color.
  • Choi Ga-yun lacks her bangs and sports dark brown hair instead of an unrealistic tannish-brown color.
  • Choi Gang-seok doesn't have a beard nor is gray-haired. He's also much more calmer.
  • Cho Gyu-cheol doesn't look like an ugly and extremely large and muscular monster of a man, instead looking more like a slim Pretty Boy.
• Yandere: When Gyu-cheol is asked if he had any final statements before he's convicted of murdering Ga-yun, he merely proclaims that he's in love with her. Ga-yun's fiancé, Hwa-jin, does not take this well.
