Rename tracks in Logic Pro for Mac

When you choose a patch for a track, the track takes the name of the patch. You can rename a track at any time.

Note: When you rename a track that has a default track name and that has not previously been renamed (for example, Audio 1 or Inst 1), any regions on the track than use the track name as their region name (and that have not previously been renamed), as well as their source audio files, are also renamed.

Rename a track

In Logic Pro, do one of the following:

  • Double-click the name in the track header, then enter a new name for the track.

  • Control-click the track header, choose Rename Track from the shortcut menu, then enter a new name for the track.

Rename multiple tracks

You can select multiple tracks in the Tracks area and rename them.

  1. In Logic Pro, select the tracks you want to rename

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Choose Track > Rename X Tracks, where X equals the number of selected tracks.

    • Control click one of the selected tracks, then Choose Rename X Tracks, where X equals the number of selected tracks.

If the new track name ends in a number, the number will increase sequentially throughout the selected tracks.

You can also rename multiple tracks by renaming channel strips in the Mixer. See Rename multiple channel strips.
