Sound Library settings in Logic Pro for Mac

Logic Pro for Mac stores all its sound-related files (such as Plug-in Settings, Channel Strip Settings, Patches, Apple Loops, and Samples) in a single file named Logic Pro Library.bundle. Logic Pro accesses that file when you use the Loop Browser, the Library, or the Sound Library. It’s stored by default in the user directory ~/Music/, but you can move it to any other location, and then use the Locate button in the Sound Library settings to point to that location.

You can store the Logic Pro Library anywhere on an internal, external, or network drive to be used by different computers on the network (using Ethernet or Wi-Fi). In addition to reducing storage requirements, this gives you the ability to manage just one Logic Pro Library file for all the computers on your network. If you open Logic Pro and it can't find the Logic Pro Library, a dialog opens and asks you to choose whether to locate the file or create a new, empty file in the default location (for example, if the external drive is currently not available).

In Logic Pro, the General settings contain the following Sound Library settings:

Location field: Shows the file path to the Logic Pro Library.bundle file, which stores the content of the Logic Pro Library.
Locate button: Opens a Finder window to navigate to the location of the Logic Pro Library.bundle if you have moved the file. You double-click that file to tell Logic Pro where the sound library is located. The Location field on the left then shows that file path.
Show in Finder button: Switches to the Finder, displaying the location of the Logic Pro Library.bundle file shown in the Location field above.

Tip: If different user accounts on the same computer need access to the Logic Pro Library, have the admin user move the Sound Library to the Shared folder in your Users directory, then have every user choose that location in their Logic Pro settings.
