Printing device management payload settings for Apple devices

You can configure printer settings for users of a Mac that enrolls in a device management service. Use the Printing payload to specify which printers to configure for use, and apply a footer to every page that prints.

The Printing payload supports the following. For more information, see Payload information.

  • Supported payload identifier: com.apple.mcxprinting

  • Supported operating systems and channels: macOS device, macOS user.

  • Supported enrollment methods: Device Enrollment, Automated Device Enrollment.

  • Duplicates allowed: False—only one Printer payload can be delivered to a user or device.

You can use the settings in the table below with the Printer payload.

Print page footer

The footer includes the user’s long name and the date and time the user sent the print job. The date and time is based on the user’s computer’s date and time, not the server’s.
