MIDI Controllers settings in Logic Pro for Mac
In Logic Pro, the Control Surfaces settings contain the MIDI Controllers settings. These settings apply to USB MIDI controllers supported by Lua scripts. See Automatic assignment for USB MIDI controllers.
MIDI Controllers settings
Auto checkbox: Enable to use automatic assignments for the corresponding USB MIDI controller. The controller must be connected and turned on.
Assignments for this device are created immediately, based on information in the Lua script. If a user-defined or -edited assignment for a control already exists, it is retained, and no additional assignment is created for this control.
The Lua script is started, enabling its optional MIDI In and MIDI Out processing.
When the Auto checkbox is unselected, Lua script assignments are removed (user-modified assignments are retained) and Lua script MIDI processing is stopped.
Note: The Auto checkbox state corresponds to the Auto Assign and No options shown in the dialog when the device is initially identified. The checkbox state is processed every time Logic is launched, or when the Bypass All Control Surfaces menu item is unchecked.
Manufacturer column: Displays the name of the controller manufacturer. This is automatically identified and shown for all USB MIDI devices that have a corresponding Lua script. Text is dimmed if the corresponding controller is offline.
Model Name column: Displays the controller name. This is automatically identified and shown for all USB MIDI devices that have a corresponding Lua script. Text is dimmed if the corresponding controller is offline.
Note: All Manufacturer and Model Name entries are removed when you click the Logic Pro for Mac Settings > General > Notifications > Reset All Warnings button. In this situation, you see the No/Auto Assign dialog for all supported USB MIDI devices that are currently online.
