Share a Wi-Fi password on Mac

If you’re signed in to a Wi-Fi network, you can use your Mac to share the password with another nearby Mac, iPhone, or iPad.

  1. Make sure your Mac is unlocked, it’s connected to the Wi-Fi network, and you’re signed in to your Apple Account.

  2. Make sure of the following:

    • The person you’re sharing the password with is signed in to their Apple Account on the other device.

    • The person is in your contacts list in the Contacts app.

    • The other device is close to your Mac.

Note: If you’re sharing the password with another device you own, make sure your own Apple Account is in your contacts list.

  3. On the other device, choose the Wi-Fi network.

  4. On your Mac, wait a few moments for the Wi-Fi Password notification to appear, then click Share.
