Change pitch in the Piano Roll Editor in Logic Pro for Mac
In Logic Pro for Mac, you can change the pitch of selected notes in the Piano Roll Editor. Changing the pitch lets you transpose parts to a different key or harmonize a melodic line.
When you drag a note, its current position and pitch are shown in a help tag. The deviation from the starting pitch is shown in semitone steps at the bottom left of the help tag. The starting pitch appears in the info display of the Piano Roll Editor.
Change the pitch of notes using the Pointer tool
In the Logic Pro Piano Roll Editor, drag notes up or down to a new pitch.
You can use the keyboard at the left edge of the Piano Roll Editor as a guide when dragging notes.
Change the pitch of notes using Musical Typing or a music keyboard
In the Logic Pro Piano Roll Editor, double-click the MIDI In button if it is not engaged, or Option-click the MIDI In button if it is already active.
The MIDI In button changes to a white outline against a red background to indicate you can use it to edit notes.
Select one or more notes.
Play a note on your Musical Typing or music keyboard.
The pitch of the selected notes changes to the played note.
