Analyze the chords in audio or MIDI regions in Logic Pro for Mac

Logic Pro can analyze the chords in an audio or MIDI region and add those chords to the region. When you drag an audio or MIDI region to the Chord track, Logic Pro analyzes the region and adds the chords it contains to the Chord track as a chord group. You can also use commands in the shortcut menu of an audio or MIDI region to have Logic Pro analyze the chords in that region.

When Logic Pro analyzes the chords in an audio or MIDI region, the chords are added to the region. You can apply the region chords to the Chord track, and you can apply the chords in the Chord track to an audio or MIDI region.

  1. In Logic Pro, click the Global Tracks button above the track headers to open the Global tracks (if they are not already visible).

  2. If the chord track is not visible, show the Chord track.

  3. Drag a region or regions from the Tracks area to the Chord track.

Logic Pro analyzes the region(s), then adds the chords to the Chord track at the region position(s).

When you drag multiple regions to the Chord track, the chords are analyzed and a chord group is added to the Chord track for each analyzed region.

Note: When Cycle mode is on, and you drag regions to an area under the cycle area to analyze their chords, only the chords in the area under the cycle area are added to the Chord track.
