Prevent a song from playing in Music on Mac

You can set Music to ignore certain songs in your library and never play them.

Open Music for me

  1. Go to the Music app on your Mac.

  2. Click Songs below Library in the sidebar.

  3. Deselect the tickbox next to the song.

Detail of the songs list in Music, showing the tickboxes and an explicit symbol for the first song (indicating it has explicit content, such as lyrics). Deselect the tickbox next to a song to prevent it from playing.

If you can’t see tickboxes, choose Music > Settings, click General, then make sure “Songs list tickboxes” is selected. See Change General settings.

Important: Deselecting a song’s tickbox removes the tick from the song in all playlists.
