Change the Mixer view in Logic Pro for Mac

You can change the Mixer view in several ways to optimize the Mixer for your workflow. For instance, you can increase the length of the Volume faders in the Mixer to take advantage of larger screen sizes.

When the number of channel strips in the Mixer exceeds the amount of available space, you can use the Single, Tracks, or All button to display only those channel strips that you need for the task at hand, or filter channel strips by type, using the channel strip filter buttons. You can use the View menu in the Mixer and key commands to hide or show specific types of channel strips. You also have the option of working with narrow channel strips or hiding the legend that appears on the left side of the Mixer.

Increase the length of the Volume faders

  • In Logic Pro, choose View > Long Faders from the Mixer menu bar (or press Shift-Control-L).

To return the faders to their default length, choose View > Long Faders again to deselect it (or press Shift-Control-L again).

Note: You can increase the length of the faders in the left and right inspector channel strips independently of the Mixer channel strips by Control-clicking the background area of either inspector channel strip and choosing Long Faders. Also, if you have multiple instances of the Mixer open, the Long Faders setting can be different in different instances.

Hide or show signal flow channel strips

In Logic Pro, do one of the following:

  • Choose View > Signal Flow Channel Strips in the Mixer menu bar.

  • Use the Show/Hide Signal Flow Channel Strips key command.

Show only channel strips with sends

  • In Logic Pro, choose View > Channels with Sends Only in the Mixer menu bar.

This hides other channel strips in the Mixer so that only channel strips that use a send to route to a specific bus, and channel strips that use a bus as their input, are visible.

Show or hide all tracks assigned to the same channel strip or instrument

In Logic Pro, do one of the following:

  • Choose View > All Tracks with Same Channel Strip/Instrument in the Mixer menu bar.

  • Use Show/Hide All Tracks with Same Channel Strip/Instrument key command.

Show or hide channel strips for tracks not normally shown in the mixer

In Logic Pro, do one of the following:

  • Choose View > Other Tracks in the Mixer menu bar.

  • Use the key command for Show/Hide Other Tracks.

Switch between narrow and wide channel strips

In Logic Pro, do either of the following:

  • Click the Narrow Channel Strips button in the Mixer menu bar to reduce the width of channel strips.

  • Click the Wide Channel Strips button in the Mixer menu bar to increase the width of channel strips.

Hide or show the Mixer legend

  • In Logic Pro, choose View > Hide Legend in the Mixer menu bar.

Choose View > Show Legend to show it again.
