Overview of Logic Pro settings

In the Logic Pro for Mac Settings window, you can define and modify settings that apply to all projects. These settings are automatically saved whenever you quit the application.

A general settings file, named com.apple.logic10.plist, is stored in the ~/Library/Preferences folder of the user directory, as is a separate settings file for control surfaces, named com.apple.logic.pro.cs. You can make changes to these files only in Logic Pro. If you delete either settings file, a new one is created the next time you open Logic Pro, with all the Logic Pro settings reset to their default values.

In some instances, you’ll see a button in the Logic Pro Settings window that links to related settings in the Project Settings window, and vice versa. The Logic Pro Settings window and the Project Settings window can be visible at the same time.

Additional settings are available in the Privacy & Analytics dialog. You access this dialog from the Logic Pro main menu.

Open Logic Pro settings

  • In Logic Pro, choose Logic Pro > Settings, or press Command-Comma (,), then choose the name of the pane that you want to open.

Tip: You can also access some settings using local menus (in the Score Editor, for example), buttons in the control bar, or shortcut menus.

Reset all Logic Pro settings (except for key command assignments)

  • In Logic Pro, choose Logic Pro > Settings > Reset All Settings Except Key Command Assignments.

WARNING: In addition to the configuration in the Logic Pro Settings window, the command resets the following to their defaults:

    • Control bar

    • Toolbar

    • Inspector channel strip components

    • User default of the track header components

    • User default of the channel strip components

    • New Tracks dialog details settings

Change privacy and analytics settings

Apple collects a variety of data, some of which is associated with your Apple Account. You can limit the use of certain analytics data or reset your identifier specifically used by apps in Apple Creator Studio. If you are using Logic Pro as part of Apple Creator Studio:

  1. In Logic Pro, choose Logic Pro > Privacy & Analytics.

  2. Do any of the following:

    • Turn off analytics: Deselect the Share Analytics Data checkbox.

    • Reset your identifier: Click the Reset Identifier button.

If you use iCloud Passwords & Keychain, turning off analytics or resetting your identifier affects your devices with iCloud Passwords & Keychain turned on. To see how your data is managed, go to www.apple.com/legal/privacy/data/logic-pro.
