Add filters to photos and videos on Mac

You can give your photos and videos a special look by adding one of the adjustable filters available in Photos.

Note: If you captured the photo on iPhone 16 or later, use Photographic Styles to apply a style to the photo or adjust the tone and color instead of using filters. See Change Photographic Styles.

Open Photos for me

  1. Go to the Photos app on your Mac.

  2. Double-click a photo or video, then click Edit in the toolbar.

  3. Click Filters in the toolbar.

    Tip: To quickly see filters while editing, press F.

  4. Click the filter you want, then click or drag the slider to adjust the look of the filter.

    Your changes are saved automatically, unless you choose Edit > Undo or click Revert to Original.
