Raven-Symoné recently stopped by the Hate to Break it to Ya podcast, hosted by Jamie Kennedy, and talked about Bill Cosby's "horrific" sexual assault allegations. For three years, Raven appeared on the show as Olivia Kendall, the step-granddaughter of Cliff Huxtable (Cosby) and Clair Huxtable (Phylicia Rashad). In 2018, after a complicated trial, Cosby was convicted on three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault and sentenced to three to 10 years in prison. He was released in 2021 after almost three years, following the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania's reversal of his conviction.

The former Disney Channel star said, "There’s so many things that Bill Cosby pioneered and literally broke the wall," adding that she can "separate the creator from the creation," and "That’s just where I live. The creation changed America. Changed television.”

Raven continued and said, "He’s also been accused of some horrific things. That does not excuse, but that’s his personal [life]. So personally, keep that there, and then business-wise, know what he did there as well. Like you said, both can live, and I think our culture is right to…don’t do wrong. Don’t do wrong personally. You just can’t do wrong."

Raven said she feels that The Cosby Show was groundbreaking and that it deserves recognition on its own, "no matter what happened after.”

The actress ended by saying, "I will always credit everyone on that set from top to bottom for creating who I am today and allowing me to have the career that I have. They took a chance on someone who had never been in the industry before.”
