Secret Island is the third stage of Water Land in Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, unlocked by clearing Blub-Blub Ocean and using the Hoop Patch. This stage takes place in a jungle setting with lots of ladders and sections where Kirby hops into the background. Completing this stage yields the Heart Patch, which is used to unlock Deep-Dive Deep.

Patch animation[edit]

Upon throwing the patch, a hoop appears above the water. In order, a dolphin, an orca, then a whale hop through the hoop, with the whale having some difficulty fitting at first. The whale then swims into position just above the water's surface and starts spouting from its blowhole. The door on the island then opens.

Overview[edit]

This stage takes place through several thick jungle sections which, interestingly enough, involve no water at all. In the first area, Kirby will need to make use of some openings in the vines to access the background and move forward. From there, he will need to jump across a wide open space using ladders while dodging Gordos. The next region is another cave-like area with access to the background, which leads into yet another open area, this time with Balloon Waddle Dees to act as a way up. In the last area, Kirby will need to hop between foreground and background while using strange birds as platforms to reach the top, where the Bonus Bell can be found to end the stage.

Treasures[edit]

Item Description How to obtain Note

Treasure Rug
Feel like you inherited a fortune as you lie on this dazzling rug! During the beginning background platforming section, Kirby can climb up in the background. A drawstring exists in the foreground that, when pulled, will move some scaffolding, granting access to this Treasure.

Totem Pole
This totem pole sports a few faces you may recognize! After the ladder parkour, a line of Cloth Blocks can be found holding up some Denim Blocks. These blocks can be destroyed by grabbing a Spear Waddle Dee's spear—accessed via pulling a drawstring in the next section—after which will reveal a Pull Patch. This Pull Patch reveals a magic tab, which will float over to a giant fossil. Peeling the fossil will revive a prehistoric bird which will stand tall, granting Kirby with a platform to jump up and collect this Treasure. One of the items needed to attract Buster to Quilty Court.

Splash Beach Soundtrack
This new music plays in Splash Beach. Riding Balloon Waddle Dees up high, a platform to the right holds the Treasure Patch containing this Treasure.

Bonus Star locations[edit]

Type Image How to obtain
2 Stars
After the first background platforming challenge of the stage, this Bonus Star is located atop a Denim Block staircase in the foreground.
3 Stars
Riding Balloon Waddle Dees up high, there will be a platform to the left with a small Denim Block puzzle. The puzzle can be solved by first traveling to the upper level via the background, and destroying the gravity-affected Cloth Blocks with the Bow Waddle Dee's bow. Then, traversing backdown, the lower Cloth Blocks can be destroyed in a similar manner, dropping down all of the Denim Blocks. This will clear a way up to grab this Bonus Star.
5 Stars
This Bonus Star is located at the top of the vertical purple vine section at the end of the stage. By exiting the background at the top left of this section, Kirby can ride the flying squirrels to the right and collect this prize.
