The evil meteor from the far reaches of the galaxy created the Galactal from its own body to act on its behalf and eradicate the Starries that sealed it away, sending them off to the various regions of the planet. Finding Kirby a threat, the meteor commanded Galactal to attack on sight.
— Figure description from Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World

Galactal is a foe encountered within Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World. It is a cycloptic pear-shaped creature coated in crystalline armor.

Aside from the final boss and Crystal variants of regular enemies and mid-bosses, Galactal is the only additional opponent included within the Star-Crossed World expansion. Galactals are created by Genwel Meteonelfilis to eliminate the Starries responsible for sealing it away. They are often necessary to be defeated in order to progress within the stage they are encountered. This makes them akin to mid-bosses, although they do not possess a visible HP bar and aren't exclusively encountered in enclosed arenas, similar to normal enemies. As Galactals take damage, more and more pieces of their armor begin to crack and break off in three separate stages. Once all of their armor is destroyed, they disappear.

Locations[edit]

Galactal appears in one stage for each level:

Galactals also appear in the mid-boss battles present in The Ultimate Cup Z EX. One is fought in-between mid-bosses and is always accompanied by two crystal enemies as it spawns. For the battles against Crystal Wild Frosty and Crystal Wild Edge, it will spawn after Crystal Wild Frosty's defeat accompanied with two Crystal Primal Awoofies. For the battles against Crystal Wild Bonkers and Crystal Fleurina, it will spawn after Crystal Wild Bonkers' defeat accompanied with two Crystal Rabiroos.

Behavior[edit]

Galactals can disappear into the ground and teleport to a different position while fighting Kirby. They possess three primary offensive moves:

  • They launch large crystal meteors vertically, and summon each one down to strike Kirby's current position. The meteors leave behind Dropped Stars after they crash into the ground and break.
    • Most early encounters have it launch three small meteors.
    • When encountered in Crystal Beast Pack Volcano Battle or The Ultimate Cup Z EX, it launches six small meteors initially, and then launches three large meteors after their first stage of armor breaks off.
  • Their melee attack consists of striking the ground to create an energy wave, from which a wave of crystal spikes appear; the crystals shatter after a moment and leave behind Dropped Stars.
    • The encounter in Lost in Alivel Mall has them start with one vertical row of crystal spikes. After their second stage of armor breaks, they launch three vertical rows of spikes.
    • Starting with Fallen-Star Beach, they begin with three vertical rows of crystal spikes. After their second stage of armor breaks, they instead summon spikes arranged in a circular shape.
  • They disappear into the ground, home in on Kirby's current position, wait a few moments and then emerge out of the ground in a damaging spin attack. This attack is never used when fought in Lost in Alivel Mall.
