Integrated global insights
While case assessment starts in VigiFlow, sharing your data with VigiBase allows you to follow up on potential signals using VigiLyze, our powerful signal management application. VigiLyze enriches your national safety data with global safety insights.
Structured data mining
VigiBase is the world’s largest source of post-marketing safety data, containing millions of adverse event reports for medicines and vaccines from more than 180 member organisations in the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring. Reports are coded using standardised terminologies such as MedDRA and UMC’s Drug Dictionary, WHODrug Global, to support systematic data mining. This allows for easy data retrieval and precise data analysis, essential for effective and accurate assessments.
Comprehensive signal management
VigiLyze strengthens every aspect of your signal management process, from detection through assessment and communication. It puts your national data in a global context by allowing you to search VigiBase for insights into medicines and vaccines that are new to your market but already in use elsewhere. You can easily document and keep track of completed and ongoing investigations, helping you to prioritise your work.
Advanced signal detection
VigiLyze improves national signal detection capabilities by providing robust disproportionality analysis and hypothesis generation using global data. It incorporates WHODrug and MedDRA so you can filter and analyse data based on specific medicines or vaccines and adverse events. By sharing reports with VigiBase, countries with large data sets may uncover hidden patterns more efficiently, while those with smaller data sets can use global or regional data to identify signals that may not be apparent from their data alone.
As well as screening VigiBase for potential signals, the Signal Management team at UMC works closely with WHO to strengthen the signal detection capacity of programme members – helping to ensure the safer use of medicines and vaccines for everyone everywhere.

Collaborative signal work
In VigiLyze, you can also view signals identified by UMC and other WHO PIDM members, providing a starting point for your own investigations or validating your signal work. Specialised searches are available on request, free of charge, through our in-house Custom Search service.
