Sudan: Italian Medical Team Conducts Surgeries for Children in Gezira

Medani — An Italian medical team started conduct of operations of removal of urinary and gastrointestinal malformations and congenital defects in the rectum for children at National Center for Pediatric Surgery in Medani, capital of Gezira State.

The Center's Medical Director, Dr Abdul-Hakam Abul-Bashar said in a statement to SUNA that the operations came within framework of agreement signed between Rome Hospital and Faculty of Medicine in Gezira University , Ministry of Health in the State and the National Center for Pediatric Surgery in Medani.

He added that the agreement stipulates conducting operations every four months over a year by three medical teams.

Dr Abul-Bashar further added that the Italian medical team plans to conduct 35 surgical operations for children in Gezira and from other states, expressing appreciation over level of cooperation between Italy and Gezira University and Ministry of Health in the State.

He called for continuation Of such partnerships to utilize the foreign expertise for enhancement of medical services.
