Bad interaction between MathJax preference (for editing on a full-featured browser) and the Android App
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

I have enabled the Wikipedia preference for rendering mathematical formulas using MathJax, because I believe that it looks significantly better than other options. However, the Wikipedia for Android App does not currently support MathJax. So when I view mathematical formulas on the app instead of on a browser, I see the LaTeX code for the formula instead of any kind of valid rendering. The result of this interaction is that it is impossible for me to (1) keep a single login that unifies my contributions in one place and keeps all my editing privileges on both devices, (2) get the math rendering that I prefer when using a browser, and (3) get math rendering that is even close to readable on the android app. The app should either properly render MathJax or it should tell the MediaWiki server to fall back to an alternative rendering option that it can render. It should not be possible for a valid preference choice on the browser side to cause the app side to break in this way.

With the impending removal of MathJax support (T99369) this may have become moot.
