Winx Club: The Shadow Phoenix is an animated special based on Winx Club, and the final of four hourlong specials released by Nickelodeon on October 16, 2011.

This special is a retelling of the majority of events from the second season. In it, the Winx meet a new friend, Aisha, and help her rescue the Pixies from the evil Shadow Phoenix, who recruits the Trix to steal Bloom's Dragon Flame to control Magix with ultimate power. Meanwhile, Bloom falls for new teacher Professor Avalon which stirs up suspicions from the others.

• Adapted Out:
  • Episode 1's adaptation starts with Bloom talking with Sky in the bleachers, removing most of the back to school party from much earlier.
  • Sky and Brandon were absent from Episode 3's adaptation.
  • The false Avalon was Darkar himself in disguise instead of one of his minions posing as him. The real Avalon was also absent at the castle.
  • There was only one piece to the Codex — the one from Pixie Village — instead of four in the original.
  • The Winx's Charmix form — introduced in the tail end of the season — was taken out of the special entirelly, to adhere to their fairy form being called Magic Winx Charmix.
  • The Guardian Pixies do not use their copied Codex pieces and the puzzle associated with them to open the portal to Realix; instead they chant a spell.
  • Bloom is not strapped down to a table with the real Avalon like in the original; she is now standing with her arms and torso in magic bonds. The table she was strapped to was still visible in the background, however.
  • Bloom did not transform into Dark Bloom until Episode 24's adaptation; her Shadow Virus was also removed.
  • Darkar sends the Trix back to Lightrock Monastery instead of Oblivion; as a result, their fused form the Megatrix is absent.
  • Mirta and Lucy were replaced with Aisha for the Group Picture Ending.
• Frankenslation: This special merges almost every episode, if not the entirety, of the second season.
• Not Brainwashed: The Winx and Sky assume Bloom's crush on Avalon is some sort of brainwashing; turns out she wasn't at all. A variation is that Bloom never turned evil herself, but was magically corrupted by Darkar after getting captured.
• Silent Antagonist: Bloom does not speak much in her Dark Bloom form apart from her Evil Laugh, only saying "Yes," and the Magical Incantation to activate the ultimate power.
