Winx Club: The Battle For Magix is an animated special based on Winx Club, and the third of four hourlong specials released by Nickelodeon on September 18, 2011.
This special retells the final quarter of Season 1note . Bloom's ultimate power, the Dragon Flame, has been stolen by the Trix, who are now the most powerful witches in the entire Magic universe. With the Winx and Sky's help, Bloom has to regain her powers if she wants to join them in an epic battle for Alfea.
Tropes:
- 2D Visuals, 3D Effects: Bloom's Fire Dragon is reanimated to appear in CGI.
- Adaptation Expansion: The scene where Daphne is encouraging Bloom is expanded slightly for Daphne to show Bloom her crown.
- Adaptation Name Change: The Army of Darkness is simply renamed "Creatures of the Dark".
- Adapted Out:
- Like the past three specials, Pepe is absent.
- The Trix did not get expelled from Cloud Tower since Episode 16 was never adapted.
- The Winx's reunion is absent in Episode 19's adaptation.
- The Trix did not break in to the library.
- The Winx's trip to Domino is removed.
- The final battle does not switch back and forth between Alfea and Bloom and Icy in the forest, instead splicing the fights together showing Alfea's battle first and Bloom and Icy's second.
- Eye Cam: Occurs in the opening as Bloom is waking up on the floor to see Mike after the Trix steal the Dragon Flame.
- Frankenslation: This special merges the first season episodes "The Fall of Magix", "Mission of Domino", 'Storming Cloud Tower', 'Power Play', "The Witches' Siege", "The Ultimate Challenge", and 'The Witches' Downfall'. The final scene of "The Font of Dragon Fire" was used at the beginning of this special.
- Immediate Sequel: This episode picks up where Revenge of the Trix left off, beginning with Bloom waking up after the Trix took her powers. This was due to the final scene of Episode 18 being used at the beginning of this special.
- Tyrant Takes the Helm: The Trix take over Cloud Tower after stealing the Dragon Flame.
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Daphne's advice to Bloom, telling her to look within herself because she never lost the Dragon Flame as it is one with her.
