Super Cat Tales is a series of mobile platformer games created by Neutronized, with the first installment, being the first Super Cat Tales (also called Super Cat Bros. on Google Play) released on November 17, 2016.
Inspired by the likes of the Super Mario Bros. and Kirby games, you take control of cats that have their own abilities that you can use to navigate through the levels and collect three bells hidden around the levels. Aside from that, you can buy some items (Super Cat Tales 2) and helpers (Super Cat Tales: PAWS) to get various secrets. There's also a spin-off called Super Cat Tales: Magic Bridge! (also known as Magic Bridge!: Endless Game), a casual game where players control the cats by tilting a bridge to ascend while avoiding obstacles.
Kuro also appears in the game Mineblast alongside Dyna Boy.
Not to be confused with the fanfic Cat Tales.
The Super Cat Tales series provides examples of:
- Ambidextrous Sprite: McMeow's left eye scar and Amy's spots on her head tend to switch when facing the other way.
- Anachronic Order: The main titles in the series take place in reverse chronological order, as explained in a devlog
by Neutronized. The most recent game in the series, Super Cat Tales: PAWS takes place first in the timeline, Super Cat Tales II takes place in the middle, and the original Super Cat Tales takes place last. - Anti-Frustration Features: Since the levels in PAWS are longer compared to the first two games, you will restart in the same room you were in rather than at the beginning of the level when you get a game over.
- Green Hill Zone: As expected, the first part of World 1 (and all of World 1 in the first game) is this in all entries, being a Kirby-styled green area with grass, trees and mostly Plant Mooks.
- Lethal Lava Land: Wold 5 in SCT and World 6 in SCT2 are the standard volcanic areas with molten lava flows and volcanic rock formations dominating the background. There's also a deep brown sky, fire hazard and blue triceratops to boot.
- Level in the Clouds: World 4 in SCT2 is a sky level filled with clouds, buildings and structures, gusts of winds that help you reach high areas or even cross the level itself and enemies such as cloud minions.
- Moveset Clone:
- All of the playable cats in PAWS (with the exception of Rigs, which has an entirely new ability) share the same abilities as some of the cats from SCT2. Pascal has Alex's ability, Rose can crawl through narrow spaces just like Amy, and Mara and Shinji can swim through strong currents and hop-skip on the water, but Mara is slightly affected by the currents, while Shinji completely resists it. Also, all of them have McMeow's ability to knock enemies.
- Olli in SCT2 is one, as a replacement for McMeow when he dies.
- Plotline Death: Unfortunately, McMeow gets injured by Commander Kobolt's laser beam in the last level of World 3.
- Shared Universe: Exaggerated. Every game series created by Neutronized, including Super Cat Tales, takes place in the same universe. This is hinted through the recurrence of characters, enemies and picking up continuity from events that occurred in previous and future Neutronized games, such as Drop Wizard.
- Shifting Sand Land: World 2 after the beach levels in Super Cat Tales 2. It's a desert area filled with quicksand, sandstorms, humanoid Desert Skulls and Stock Femur Bones.
- Slippy-Slidey Ice World: World 4 in SCT and the snow area in World 3 in SCT2 are the typical ice worlds with slippery ice, deep snow, ice caves and polar enemies like yetis and snowmen.
