Use function keys as Motion keyboard shortcuts

By default, keyboard function keys (F1, F2, and so on) control macOS features, such as adjusting screen brightness or computer volume. To use the function keys for keyboard shortcuts, you must also press and hold the Fn key or the Globe key (depending on your Mac model).

You can set an option so that you don’t have to press and hold the Fn key or the Globe key to use function keys for Motion keyboard shortcuts (such as showing or hiding the Timing pane or switching to full-screen player mode).

Use function keys as Motion keyboard shortcuts

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Keyboard in the sidebar.

  2. Click Keyboard Shortcuts, click Function Keys in the sidebar, then turn on “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.”

Turn off “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” to return to the default setting.
