What’s new in Logic Pro for Mac 11.2

Capture a recent audio performance with Flashback Capture

You can capture your most recent audio performance even when Logic Pro is not recording. With Flashback Capture, you can capture audio on the focused track whenever the project is playing and an audio signal is present. See Capture a recent audio performance.

Stem Splitter enhancements

With Stem Splitter, you can now extract stems for guitar and piano, for a total of six stems. Stem Splitter includes a variety of presets that you can use to quickly extract different combinations of stems. You can also combine multiple stems into a custom submix. See Extract vocal and instrumental stems with Stem Splitter.

Search for and select tracks

You can search for and select a track by name or track number using the Search and Select Track command. Selecting a track scrolls the Tracks area to the track, making this function particularly useful for projects with a large number of tracks. See Select tracks.

New sound packs

The Magnetic Imperfections, Dancefloor Rush, and Tosin Abasi sound packs are available to download from the Sound Library. See Manage Logic Pro content.

Other features

  • Normalize the gain of audio regions: You can nondestructively normalize the gain of audio regions in the Tracks area, and choose the normalization method as well as the target level. See Normalize audio regions in the Tracks area.

  • Use long faders in the Mixer: You can increase the length of the faders in the Mixer to make fader movements with greater precision and to take advantage of larger screen sizes. See Change the Mixer view.

  • Show a Master Volume slider or an output meter in the control bar: You can show a Master Volume slider, an output meter, or neither on the right side of the control bar. See Customize the control bar.

  • New Quantec Room Simulator parameters: The Quantec Room Simulator now features emulation of its original AD/DA converters, including a drive control and a new option to reverse the phase of the first reflection output. The Yardstick adds an Off option to its correlation pattern menu so that you can mute the reverb output channel independently of the dry and first reflection outputs. See Quantec Room Simulator.

  • Renaming tracks also renames regions with default names: Renaming a track also renames the regions on the track that have the track name as their region name. See Rename tracks.

  • Move chords when the Chord track is closed: You can move chords and chord groups in the ruler even when the Chord track is closed, similar to markers on the Marker track. See Move and resize chords.

  • Adjust the height channels on channel strips for surround and Spatial Audio projects: You can use the new Elevation slider next to the pan control on a channel strip to position a signal vertically in surround and Spatial Audio projects. See Overview of the Surround Panner.

  • Use Music mode and Movie mode for the Apple Renderer: When monitoring your Spatial Audio mix with headphones using the Apple Renderer, you can choose the headphone virtualization used by Apple Music (Music mode) or Apple TV (Movie mode). See Dolby Atmos monitoring formats.

  • Use Writing Tools in project and track Note Pads: On Macs with Apple Intelligence turned on, you can use Writing Tools in both the Project Notes and the Track Notes panes to proofread, rewrite, or summarize selected text. See Logic Pro project notes and Logic Pro track notes.

  • Use Camera tools in project and track Note Pads: On Macs with Continuity, you can take a photo, scan a document, or create a sketch using your iPhone or iPad and use it in the Project Notes pane or the Track Notes pane. See Logic Pro project notes and Logic Pro track notes.
