Use the Storage management configuration to limit access to storage on a Mac.

The Storage management configuration supports the following:

  • Minimum supported operating system versions and channels: macOS 15 device.

  • Requires supervision: Yes.

  • Supported enrollment methods: Device Enrollment, Automated Device Enrollment.

External storage devices

Specifies the mount policy for external storage:

  • Allowed: The system can mount external storage that’s read-write or read-only.

  • Read-only: The system can mount only external storage devices that are inherently read-only can be mounted, such as DVDs or CDs. Writable devices can’t be mounted, such as USB storage or SSDs even in read-only mode.

  • Disallowed: The system can’t mount any external storage.

Network Storage

Specifies the mount policy for network storage:

  • Allowed: The system can mount network storage that’s read-write or read-only.

  • Read-only: The system can mount only read-only network storage. Network storage that’s read-write isn’t mounted read-only.

  • Disallowed: The system can’t mount any network storage.
