Managed Login Items device management payload settings for Apple devices

You can configure Managed Login Items settings for users of a Mac that enrolls in a device management service. Use the Managed Login Items payloads to specify the apps, files, folders, and network mounts that are open when users log in.

The Managed Login Items payloads support the following. For more information, see Payload information.

  • Supported approval method: com.apple.servicemanagement requires user approval.

  • Supported payload identifiers: com.apple.servicemanagement, com.apple.loginitems.managed, loginitems

  • Supported operating systems and channels:

    • macOS device: com.apple.servicemanagement, com.apple.loginitems.managed, loginitems

    • macOS user: com.apple.loginitems.managed

  • Supported enrollment methods: User Enrollment (com.apple.loginitems.managed only), Device Enrollment, Automated Device Enrollment.

  • Duplicates allowed: True—more than one Managed Login Items (com.apple.servicemanagement, com.apple.loginitems.managed) payload can be delivered to a user. False—Login Items can deliver only one payload to a device.
