Intro to lighting 3D text in Motion

3D text in Motion is designed to simulate the shading and reflectivity of a three-dimensional object in the real world reacting to local lighting conditions and the surrounding environment.

Although you can manually add light objects to your project to achieve precise lighting effects, it’s not a requirement when working with 3D text. The built-in lighting and environment controls in Motion greatly simplify the process of creating natural-looking 3D text objects.

Also, because reflectivity is a fundamental aspect of what makes three-dimensional objects appear realistic, Motion allows you to control what’s reflected in 3D text objects. You can choose from a range of preset environments, or you can create your own custom environment.
