Record MIDI messages from another music app in Logic Pro for Mac
Logic Pro for Mac features a virtual MIDI device called Logic Pro Virtual In that you can use to receive and record MIDI messages from another music app installed on your Mac. When Logic Pro Virtual In is enabled in Logic Pro and set as the MIDI output in the other music app, MIDI messages are routed from the music app to Logic Pro, where you can record them to a software instrument track or external MIDI track. Before you start recording, make sure you create a software instrument track for the app you want to record.

Record MIDI messages from another music app
In Settings > MIDI > Inputs in Logic Pro, select the checkbox for Logic Pro Virtual In to enable it. For more information, see MIDI Inputs settings.
In the other music app, set the MIDI output to Logic Pro Virtual In. Check the app’s documentation for information on how to do this.
In the Track inspector for the software instrument track, use the MIDI Input pop-up menu to select Logic Pro Virtual In. See Edit track parameters.
Move the playhead to the point in the ruler where you want to start recording.
Set the metronome for recording, if desired.
Click the Record button
in the control bar (or press R) to start recording.Use the other music app to record parts.
Click the Stop button
in the control bar (or press the Space bar) to stop recording.
