Change Language & Region General preferences on Mac
On your Mac, use the General pane of Language & Region System Preferences to select the languages shown in the Finder and in apps, and choose the formats used to show dates, times, numbers, and currency.
To open this pane, choose Apple menu 
, then click General.

Option | Description |

Preferred languages | The languages you want shown in macOS and in apps (for example, in menus and messages), and on websites (if available in a preferred language). If macOS or an app supports the primary language, that language is used. If not, the other languages are used, in the order listed. You can drag languages in the list to reorder them. See Change the language your Mac uses and If non-Latin fonts don’t appear correctly on Mac. If you add input sources, those languages are automatically added to the list. |
Add | Add and remove languages from the list. |
Region | Choose the geographic region whose formats are used for dates, times, numbers, and currencies. When you choose a different region, the options and the preview shown change. |
Calendar | Choose the type of calendar used to display dates and times. |
Time format | Use a 24-hour format for the time shown in the menu bar. For example, instead of 3:00 PM, show 15:00. This option overrides the clock setting in Dock & Menu Bar preferences. |
Temperature | Choose the preferred temperature format. |
Term of address | Choose your preferred term of address. This option is available when the primary language is Spanish or when the primary language is English and Spanish is a preferred language. Select the checkbox to share your term of address with all apps. |
Numbers | Choose the characters used to display numbers. This option is available only for some primary languages, such as some Arabic or Indian languages. |
Live Text | Select text in images. |
Keyboard Preferences | Open the Input Sources pane of Keyboard preferences, where you can add and remove input sources, and set options for input sources. |
Advanced | |
Translation Languages | Select languages to download to your computer so you can translate when offline. You can also enable On-Device Mode to translate on your device even when connected to the internet. |
